While this is a great, inexpensive paring knife for general purpose use, it's also terrific for what I bought it for: Opening littleneck clams!It has a very thin blade, so it's less likely to crack the shell as you slip it in to cut open the clam, and since it's a sheepsfoot, you're less likely to have your fingers accidentally slip off the blade tip and get cut.
This is to littlenecks (or any clam) what a good oyster knife is to oysters, but this can actually be used for other things.
