If you're reading this, you're one of the dwindling number of people who actually want to lard meat. Get this needle. The design allows you to push the needle and the attached strip of lard all the way through the meat. I have not tried the kind that have wooden handles at the back, but being able to just pull the whole unit through was so easy that it seems like it must be better than the sort of modified "push" you would have to use with the handled type.

I purchased this needle to thread bacon through venison. It does what it's supposed to but it's not all that easy. I found that the midway through threading, the bacon will break but I guess that's just the tougher cut of meat that I was dealing with. Ideally I would like to see the needle made of solid metal and maybe a little thicker.

I'm somewhat disappointed in the larding needle. I've only had it a few days and noticed rust already forming at the metal near the joint. There also were absolutely no instructions on how to use it, there's not a whole lot to it, so I was able to figure it out, but considering the different design than most I thought it would have been beneficial.
