I bought this mainly to use on weekend trips, to help the cooking gear compact. I also liked the idea of using its folding capability to smash garlic cloves. Haven't tried that yet, but I have no doubt that it works. The hinge on the product looks like it will not last more than a year or two, though obviously I don't yet know. One important drawback is that the cutting board does NOT fold really flat. Only the shrink wrap kept it that way. Otherwise, it has a good cutting surface, does not warp in the dishwasher (I don't use heated dry), and is fairly lightweight and sturdy, with the possible exception of the hinge. I guess if the hinge does break I could just sand the edges down and have two smaller boards. ;-)
