I only write reviews if I'm extremely unhappy or pleasantly pleased. And I must say, this set impressed me more than I expected. Besides the fact that I believe all knife blocks should include a sharpening steel and scissors(no scissors in this set) no matter how small the set, this one was worth the price regardless(I found it at a local TJMaxx for 59.99). I will just buy a pair of kitchen scissors.
I am a huge fan of OXO brands and originally wanted their knife block. I had it in my cart because I didn't need it at the time but did notice the price kept fluctuating. Now that I need it, it is at $99, is a 14pc, doesn't come with scissor either(but does have a slot for scissors), and I don't know the quality although it has 4.5stars, so I went with Henckels. Well, the reason for wanting the OXO is the rubber grip and come to find out this set has the rubber feel grip as well. Not so much like OXO, but works for me. I haven't used the knives yet but I'm sure they will be up to par since JA Henckels is a known brand for good quality, although you can tell this is one of their lower end products. Still worth it.
Block is a good weight, stern, will last. Slots are straight through the block, good for drainage. Handles have a good rubber feel, decent size for holding (I have small hands). Blades seem sharp and decent thickness, not flimsy. Like I said I have to try them out still. Not a Victorinox but you should always have/buy a separate GOOD knife anyways.
So, if I feel otherwise after I try them out. I will update the review. Hope this helps
