Wusthof Grand Prix2 8-Piece Deluxe Knife Set with Block

This is an excellent set of knives. I wanted Wusthof's Grand Prix II series because of the quality and value. They are very sharp and Wusthof has a great reputation for lasting quality. The cook's knife is my favorite. It has a nice weight to it and is balanced at the bolster. This particular set is the best in the Grand Prix II series in my opinion. Most cutlery sets include several utility knives and paring knives which isn't all that useful to me. This set has everything the average cook would need. I may purchase the fillet knife separately since it is flexible and I like to fish. Although, most people probably wouldn't need that considering a boning knife is included and you would need to buy an expensive set to get the fillet knife included. As for the lack of steak knives, I would rather save the money and buy a cheaper set. A Grand Prix II block with the steak knives included is at least $500 and the 6-piece steak knife set is over $200 by itself. Wusthof makes a nice stainless steel steak knife set for about $60 that I'm looking into. The only thing I would consider "budget" about these knives are the plastic handles. However, even though they are plastic, they still feel nice and are good quality. Plus, a comparable set in Wusthof's Classic series--which has wood handles--would cost an extra $100 to $200 more. Overall this is a great set and I highly recommend them!

For me this kit has all you need to cut and cook at home or professionally. The only one missing would be the vegetable and santoku knives. The boning knife is sharp and confortable to use. Not very heavy knives, you can use them for a long time without any pain. very good purchase

Amazing knifes! They are sharp, sturdy, heavy and feel good on the hand. Package arrived as promised, nicely packed, but the only thing i was not complitely happy is the wood block...as some previous review mentioned is not as classy as the knifes is holding. Dont get me wrong cause is good, but for the knifes i ordered I was expecting a more classy one. I recommend it

I chose this 8pc. Deluxe set because of the variety of knives that came with it. Most sets throw in the cheaper paring or utility knives. This one has a carver and a boning knife which give you a lot more flexibility, being able to choose the right knife for the job. I'd describe the Grand Prix as higher quality cutlery and it appears to be a line that is fairly available in stores and on the internet to be able to add add'l pieces. The block that this set comes with allows for this. I've been using these for a month now and am very pleased with my purchase. It has made kitchen detail a lot more fun and enjoyable as the work takes so much less effort. All in, I paid about $260.

good starter set. really sharp. My wife and I use them a lot. No steak knives though, have to buy those separately but right now too expensive.
