Gibson Mr Coffee Morning Fix 16-Ounce Covered Travel Mug, Blue

I recently received the Mr. Coffee travel mug as a gift and have tried it out several times. I have had better success with Contigo cups Contigo AUTOSEAL Stainless Steel 16-Ounce Vacuum Insulated Tumbler, Blue, Set of 2. The Contigo outperformed the Mr. Coffee in each of the categories below.

I have found the base less than stable on a flat hard surface like a counter-top, the mug tips slightly. The instability is increased if the surface is less sturdy say like a sofa or towel on top of a counter. The Mr. Coffee, however, fits very well in my car cup holders the cut out on the handle helps the mug fit in slots your would not think possible. The Contigo has better stability overall and still has the ability to fit in my car cup holders.

The Mr. Coffee provides only rudimentary spill protection. If it is tippd over (and this is quite easy due to it's limited stability) your beverage will spill out. Again, the Contigo does not spill unless the fall is hard enough to dislodge the cap a tip over is not enough, but a drop from 2-3+ feet onto a hard surface may be enough.

The mug only provides slight insulation the surface gets warm with hot liquids (such as coffee). I have found the insulation on the Contigo to be much better both with hot and cold beverages.

All in all, this is an OK mug but I am not confident in it's spill protection or stability. I would rather spend a few more bucks and have a better coffee mug.
