Spode Judaica Challah Knife

Spode Judaica Challah KnifeI ordered several of these Challah knives to give as Chanukah presents. When they arrived, the box had "Spode" printed on it, but a label pasted on the box said, "Made in China."

I opened one of the boxes, and UNLIKE THE PHOTO OF THE PRODUCT ON THE AMAZON.COM WEBSITE ACCOMPANYING THE PRODUCT, WHICH HAS "MADE IN ENGLAND" stamped on the blade in the photo, this one is only stamped, "Spode" with no "Made in England."

It appears to be cheaply made, and the blade is scratched!

I have bought several items from the Spode Judaica collection at stores in the past (never online before), and the box was different and was labeled, "Made in England."

I tried calling Amazon customer service and it took 5 calls before I was able to reach someone in the U.S. (the rest were in Manila). They acknowledged that the photo said, "Made in England." They said I could ship them back to them, or they would replace them, but said they couldn't guarantee I'd get what was represented on the website. Then they put me on hold for 20 minutes and never came back. Then the call disconnected.

SO AMAZON IS SELLING A SHODDY PRODUCT DIFFERENT FROM WHAT'S IN THE PICTURE, WHICH IS ALSO PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!

It is gorgeous!! I did have to wait almost 8 weeks for it but when I got it I loved it. I do wish it came with a cover or sheath so I wouldn't scrape my knuckles when I grab for it.

The knife has a very sharp serrated edge, making cutting very easy. The design on the handle is absolutely beautiful! However, it's a decal. The bands near the blade overlap, making it very obvious, but luckily that is the only flaw. There is a little residue near the blade as well that looks like glue, but this is not noticeable unless you examine the knife closely. There is no indication of the knife being made in China or the UK. The blade has an engraved "Spode," and the box says, "London Road, Stock-on-Trent." I have seen nothing to indicate the knife was made in China. Overall, it's a beautiful and functional knife, and despite the decal and residue, I would buy it again.
