John Boos 10-Inch Square Maple Mezzaluna Herb Cutting Board

I purchased this John Boos 10x10x2 Maple Mezzaluna Herb Board with the Nigella Lawson Bliss Herb Chopper Mezzaluna, Brushed. I was impressed with both, believing these items to be of top quality. First of all, pairing these two items together is ridiculous. The first thing I noticed when I put the two together, is that these items CAN NOT be used together. The curvature of the John Boos board is such that the radius of the board is much smaller than the radius of the beautiful Nigella Lawson knife. Impressed with the quality of both, I ended up purchasing the Nigella Lawson Mezzaluna board and also a J.A. Henckels Twin Select Mincing Knife. These two items fit well with the two items above.

I am not giving the two star review because of the misleading information that is presented suggesting that the Boos Board & the Nigella Lawson chopper were compatible (again, I repeat that they are NOT COMPATIBLE). The knife was beautiful and very worthy of the many five star reviews it has received. The board, on the other hand, was a big disappointment. I took special care to apply mineral oil on both sides of the board, normally considered a requirement of maintaining any fine chopping block. At any rate, I used the board with the Henckels mincing knife and found that it worked excellent. However, after this single use, after I returned home from a business trip, I found that the board had cracked on the side of the John Boos engraving, all the way through the board for a length of 2 inches. The four legs of the board no longer made contact with a flat surface. In my assessment, it appears that the wood was not properly cured before it was first assembled.

I give two stars instead of 1 star because of Amazon's excellent customer service. After contacting them they offered to replace or refund the cost of the board. Having never seen a board like this crack before, I opted to get the refund rather than to risk experiencing this problem again. So I cannot verify if this experience is a rare occurrence that had happened or if there is a problem with the way these boards are put together. At any rate, thank you AMAZON for standing behind the products you sell. However, please do not mislead people with your "frequently bought together" advertising.

Great board built of good quality and it must work with some kind of knife but the Wusthof 9-Inch Double Mezzaluna is not one of them!!! Why Amazon shows these two like they belong together I do not understand. I received a quick refund with not a problem at all.

This was a Christmas gift from my financé. I treated it with chopping block oil (aka mineral oil) and have had no problems with it yet. It cleans easily & I have not seen one manufacturers flaw in the wood. Great quality and very sturdy... highly recommended!

I wanted to buy a set to include the cutting board and mezzaluna as a gift set for a friend, but this cutting board was by far the nicest I found. Unfortunately it didn't come with a matching mezzaluna so I bought one separately. My big disappointment was that the curve of the mezzaluna did not match the curve of the cutting board which defeated the purpose. No reflection on the quality of the products, my only advice is to by a matching set.

It's a great cutting board, but I find the bowl just slightly small for the mezzaluna knife we purchased. We don't use it as often as I thought we would.
