Mercer Ultimate 8-Inch Knife Offset Utility, Wavy Edge
Ginsu Hanaita Damascus 33 Layer VG-1 Core Stainless Steel 9-Piece Cutlery Set with Cryogenic Edge R
These knives are solid, sturdy, sharp and durable. They are most definitely genuine damascus steel. Mass produced, machine made damascus....yes. But still very good steel. For this price I wasn't expecting hand forged knives. I paid half of what I would have paid for a six piece set of Shun knives and feel like I got an excellent value. Much better than the comparable Calphalon damascus knives.I bought these thinking I was getting a high quality product.. These knives are worthless and dull after just a few uses. I followed their directions on how to properly handle and use and it matters none. The blades themselves are not made from Damascus, and the steak knives (i bought the 13 peice set) are so cheap they bend when cutting. I will donate these POS just to try and get some of my money back. Went back to using my 15 year old chicago cutlery knives that are much nicer even after 15 years of use. Ginsu you should be ashamed of yourselves for putting out such a shotty product for the price. I wouldnt pay 100 for the set.

Great knife for anyone who bakes their own bread. Blade is sharp and the guide is adjustable. I love mine.Design of the guide in relation to the cutting edge prevents you from cutting all the way through. In order to use it one must lift the bread off the cutting board in order to be able to use the knife as intended. This produces a ragged and lousy cut.Kuhn Rikon Farmers Market Knife Colori 4-Inch Blade

The only complaint is that someone must have marked the back by accident with a permanent marker.. just a few strikes... but enough to be annoyed. Not worth returning if I am going to just use the bottom with the tacks as feet anyways.

Wusthof Classic 2-Piece Hollow Ground Asian Set
PROS:
shape, light weight, and thinness are perfect for chopping/slicing almost anything
Wusthof brand
PRO-CON:
It is super, crazy sharp. The first time I wiped the side of it down with my kitchen sponge, it sliced through the sponge effortlessly. I was thankful for the lesson, as I've been extremely mindful of that while using it.
CONS:
None that I can find
The smaller knife is a great bonus, though I can't say that I use it any differently than my other paring knife.

I had originally planned to buy a Shun knife but when I tried it out in a store it felt too big, heavy, and awkward in my hand. (I am 5 feet tall and have relatively small, but strong hands). The Wusthof fits me just perfectly. I've been using both knives for a couple of months now and find that they do a great job without stressing my hands or wrists. I mostly use them for fruits and veggies. I strongly recommend that if you are new to quality knives you should go to a store and handle a bunch to see what feels most comfortable in your hand then buy it on Amazon where the price can't be beat, especially with free shipping. I like the storage box that the knives came it. I set it in a drawer and keep the knives in it. It keeps the knives safe and me safe from them! I must say that the hollows on the santoku knife edge don't seem to stop food from sticking, but I don't find that to be a problem.Read Best Reviews of Wusthof Classic 2-Piece Hollow Ground Asian Set Here
Victorinox Stainless Steel 7 Inch Santoku Knife with Rosewood Handle
2) Having said that, this knife is SHARP. Love it. I would buy this brand again (when you come right down to it, Henkels is overrated. Ditto Wusthof).
3) Well balanced & nice fit to my hand (tho prob too small for an extra large hand). I like it much better than our classical (huge) chef's knife as it's easier to use.
4) Attractive "traditional" appearance
Overall? Major bang for buck. I will try Victorinox again (btw, this knife is made in Solingen, Germany).Beware of the odor that the wooden handle has. It's a shame, because the blade cuts beautifully and it sits well in the hand. Maybe I will re-order with plastic handle.

This handy little tool is easy to use and is easily stored so it is readily available. I use this sharpener to put a quick sharp edge on my knives. I hate dull knives. A sharp knife makes everything go faster and safer. This can be used by those who are not skilled with a steel. It does not replace the need for a really good electric sharpener when knives get really dull. Bought ones for my grown kidsRead Best Reviews of AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener 2 Pack Here
The brand name speaks for itself. The poduct is 100% sure-sharp.I am so happy to have this product,it makes my job easier because I am able to sharpened my knives when needed.Love this product,I have owned one of these for many years and have found them to be very useful for sharpening my knives. I bought four of these for my daughters for Christmas and they love them too. Knives are sharp with very little effort. A good buy for the money.Easy and fun to use on the first three or so knives, but if you're like me and waited until all your knives were dull before buying a sharpener then either stagger your sharpening or be prepared with some icy hot for your dominant hand lol! It sharpens quickly, and the two pack was awesome to get because I have a habit of not being able to find something when I need it, so a spare is always great! It's pretty small so it doesn't take up much room, and I'm happy I didn't go with an electric sharpener even after I overworked my hand sharpening every knife in the house, plug space is a much needed commodity in my kitchen!Coutellerie Tarrerias-Bonjean Set of 6 Laguiole Table Forks Red Handle Colour in a Box

Oneida Paul Revere 6-Piece Progress Flatware Set
I love the metal feeding spoon. It is just right for baby's mouth and can be used effectively to scoop up mush from the chin.
If you are providing a Montessori environment at home the toddler fork and spoon are perfect for little hands.
The larger 'junior' set will be about right for a 3-4 year old.I received this set as a gift from my mother-in-law when my older son turned 1. I honestly didn't think much of it at the time, other than the set was cute. 2 years, and another baby later, and these pieces are the most used flatware in my house. They have held up amazingly well to countless dishwashings, unlike the other plastic kids' cutlery we have cycled through. The larger fork and knife are the perfect size for my 3 year old, and the smaller fork and knife are the perfect size for my 20 month old. I like that the fork tines are sharp enough to stab food because so many plastic forks are not, and I've yet to meet a toddler that can successfully scoop up anything with a fork. I love that these are nice and look just like mommy and daddy's fork and spoon because it encourages my kids to use their utensils and makes my 3 year old feel grown-up. I'll admit, the knife is not all that useful for the kids, but at my mother-in-law's suggestion, I use it as a butter knife and it fits perfectly on the butter dish. I use the small spoon with a long handle to eat ice cream (because it makes my tiny portions last longer!), and it's also what I give my boys to eat their yogurt with (smaller spoon means smaller bites which means less yogurt spilling!). Of course, it was also great when my boys were babies and I was spoon feeding them.
The set is very attractive, and has not rusted or tarnished in any way, and I dish wash the forks and spoons EVERY DAY...it is as high quality as any regular sized oneida flatware set. This is my go-to baby gift now...looks like my mother-in-law knew what she was doing all along! :)

I almost always give these for baby shower gifts and it a gift one doesn't think of giving or getting. Any person seems to love receiving these for her baby gift. These are high quality and they are strong 18/8. I've done the ice cream test with these and they didn't bend. This is something that can be past on from generation to generation.Read Best Reviews of Oneida Paul Revere 6-Piece Progress Flatware Set Here

I currently own a flatware set of the same design, but of much better quality. I had ordered these in hopes of adding to the current set, but these are comparatively flimsy feeling. Further, the black handle design doesn't feel smooth and the individual parts comprising each piece are noticeable. For $20, they're OK, but I'll continue to look for a better quality product. There are sturdy pieces of flatware and feel heavy for their price. I was surprised with the quality and am pleased.Victorinox Cutlery PerformanceShield Cut Resistant Glove, Large
In short, a quality product that can save you nicks and cuts while improving your speed with a knife or mandolin.I now have two of these gloves so I can have one to use when the other is in the wash. Before this glove I would cut myself almost every time I used my Mandolin cutter. Even though thy provide a pusher to protect you fingers it does not work well and you end up using you hand. Heck I have cut myself cleaning the darn thing. LOL. I also use it when cutting meat especially when deboning or filleting fish. Unlike the other metal glove I had it does not appear to dull the blade and its a lot easier to clean and does not get hot and sweaty inside. If you have a Mandolin and want to keep your fingertips I'd get at least one of these.

I use my glove whenever I use my mandolin slicer. In the course of using the glove I have slipped and had my fingers impact the sharp blade with no adverse effects to me or the glove. I really can't imagine using the slicer without it. It seems to me that the gloves will protect from most any slicing cut but it won't provide complete protection from a sharp knife tip punctures since the material is relatively thin.Read Best Reviews of Victorinox Cutlery PerformanceShield Cut Resistant Glove, Large Here
If you use a mandoline to slice vegetables and such, this is a must. I'm still careful when using the mandoline, but the glove protects my fingers beautifully from getting cut.Want Victorinox Cutlery PerformanceShield Cut Resistant Glove, Large Discount?

1. Professional chefs in kitchens don't get fancy expensive knives. If the knives gets stolen, the restaurant is out a lot of money. This doesn't mean they're bad knives, but it does mean you don't need to spend a lot of money.
2. I don't trust any knife which says it doesn't need sharpening.
3. You want full tang.
Now, here is my take on these as a beginner, these aren't full tang but are sturdy. When they fall apart I can get to the bottom of it but for now, they're doing a great job for the price. I got mine at woot for far less. I test full tang by performing a conductivity test from the knife tip to the hilt. It failed there. A test from the tip of the blade to the back end of the blade where it meets the hilt succeeded. Now the set is great, I would've liked kitchen shears. The main reason this is getting four stars and not five is because the Santoku length is small. Everything else I can deal with.
The best information I can give is I have a $10 Mainstays (i.e. Walmart) 7" Santoku knife. It's full tang, loses it's edge fast but when I need it, it works and is a knife size.

Came in sharp as a razor and held an edge through 3 180lb Ahi so far. Also bought this with a sharpening steel so using a stone wouldnt be nessesary for a while. What can I say? TOTALLY WORTH THE PRICE if you butcher/clean fish. Wouldnt see much use in a kitchen though, but still a nice all around knife to have!Read Best Reviews of Wenger Swibo Skinning Knife, Rigid Blade Here
This blade is sharp to begin with, but it is also re-sharpens quite nicely. I use this blade on wild game, such as snapping turtle, bullfrogs and catfish, though I must resharpen it often, due to the bones and tough skin, the shape of the blade allows me to get meat in tough areas that a regular filet knife would shred. Now that doesn't mean that I have stopped using the filet knife, as taking the filet off the skin of a catfish is still much easier with a filet knife. I find that having this knife as well as a filet, is the equivalent to having a phillips head and a flat head screw driver, as they both serve their own purpose.ya, crazy sharp. I kill 5 to 7 beef a day, hand skin. Not hard to sharpen and a smooth steel will keep it sharp all day. will probably go with the 7 inch knife next time.
