Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition 6-Inch Utility Knife
Note: a high-end sous chef told me about 10 years ago that, if you pay 15 dollars for a knife, you are overpaying, and you only need two knives at most, a utility knife (like this one) and a bigger chef's knife for fine chopping veggies and smashing garlic. And then with a pair of squeeze tongs, a saute pan, a sauce pan, a stock pot, a collander, there's your kitchen, and you should pay no more than 100.00 total for all. And "You should actually pay less than 50.00 for the whole set because you should buy it all at a restaurant auction. Otherwise you're throwing yur money away."This is a good knife for the price. To me it does not feel as balanced or precise as my 6 inch Henckels Four Star but then it is also a fraction of the price. The knife feels particularly appropriate for butchering meat.

I've owned several Chicago Cutlery knives and have never had a complaint about any of them, of which most are still in use. This one is no exception. Appears very well built and a quality product. No complaints. I highly recommend it.Read Best Reviews of Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition 6-Inch Utility Knife Here
Have been using my orignal knife set for 18 years. Couldn't ask for better. This one was for my daughter. When I visit I cook and can't stand not having great cutlery. A tip to all never put these in the dishwasher. It will ruin the walnut handles. Keep them oiled with whatever is available in the kitchen including bacon grease or olive oil. My grandfather used to oil his Saw blades with a fat meat skin from his smoke house. It workedWant Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition 6-Inch Utility Knife Discount?
I've had this same knife for atleast 15 years. I have used this knife for just about anything in the kitchen. Since I am not living by myself anymore I had to buy 2 more just to be able to cut something. My original knife is still like new and I sharpen it myself often. As with all wooden handled knives, hand wash it, do not throw it in the dishwasher. The heat from the dishwasher also messes up the edge of the blade anyway. Also use cutting board oil or mineral oil on the handle once in a while so it does not dry out and crack. Chicago make good quality knives. I love this knife.Chroma Kasuni Diamond Sharpener

I was so glad to find this; I have an old Sunbeam Mixmaster Mixer from 1980 and the cord that came with it was inadvertently thrown away because I only use the Mixer at Christmas to make divinity. Wusthof Classic Ikon Cook'S Knife 16 Cm
Aesthetically, the new design is more pleasing, and has modern, flowing lines. The classic Wusthof red sticker is formed into the blade itself, so no more of the sticker coming off during washing! Also, the tang extends all the way to the bottom of the handle, ending in a sleek metal cap. Lastly, the bolster is much thinner, making the knife easier to sharpen.
Out of the box, my Ikon was as sharp as my Shun Nakiri. A few swipes on my steel made it even more so. After an hour of cutting, I greatly appreciated the new ergonomically designed handle. It really makes prepping much more comfortable. The overall balance is skewed slightly towards the handle, but not noticeably so.
In conclusiona great update on the Classic line, with functional improvements. This is now the first knife I reach for from my block.I really like Wusthof knives and decided to upgrade to the Classic Ikon after seeing them at Williams Sonoma. I use this knife more than any others I have. The handles on the Classic Ikon are very comfortable and well balanced. Because this knife is so versatile, I don't have a need for other specialty knives. It does a great job on everything from slicing crusty bread to chopping vegetables and herbs. Amazon's prices were so good that I returned the knife I bought at Williams Sonoma (before using it, of course) and bought it on Amazon.

Awesome knife! Great balance. Wicked sharp and a joy in the kitchen. Perfect for most jobs. Not too big to cut fruit and vegetables but large enough to get through most cooking applications. Can't beat the price!I recommend this line from Wustof. Its worth the upgrade from the classic.

Very happy with this purchase. It does a great job. Thanks to the other reviewers for sharing their opinions and helping me with this purchase. After reading the reviews I decided to give this knife a try. Works really good for slicing tomatoes. You can also lifT a tomato slice with the end of the knife and slide it off onto your plate or bread. It's also excellent for spreading the mayonnaise on the bread when making BLTs or even just a tomato sandwich. I'm purchasing another for a Christmas Gift. This tomato knife is simply wonderful. I got these to replace a set of knives that had become dull and no longer would hold an edge. What appealed to me about these knives was that they were stainless steel and dishwasher safe. I took off one star because one of the four knives arrived dull. Something wrong with the way the serrations were cut. Additionally one star was removed because the instructions that came with the set states that you must remove the knives from the dishwasher prior to the final rinse cycle. Now, if something is dishwasher safe, that means to me that it can withstand a complete dishwasher cleaning/rinsing/drying cycle. Not these. The three sharp remaining knives are good and sharp and I have no problem with their performance as knives. Had I not thrown away the packing materials, I would probably have exchanged the set I received for another one.
Update 5/30/13. A second knife in the set has now gone dull. The remaining pair have been put into storage and a replacement set has been ordered. Although from a different manufacturer.

Wusthof 5-in. Gourmet Fork-Tip Tomato Knife.
I have 2 Wustof Santoku knives: gifts from family. This tomato knife is of similar quality except for the cheap red sticker. Cuts through tomatoes effortlessly; as well as melon, strawberries, peppers, etc... (you get the idea. the blade is very sharp )
The knife itself is excellent, but to earn 5 stars for a $30 tomato knife, leave the sticker off and laser brand/imprint the handle or leave it off entirely. The blade is marked indelibly; no reason to cheapen it with a tacky red sticker that is starting to peel on the handle.

I was on a knife purchasing kick and ordered the block set of Wustof Gourmet knives, so I decided to purchase this tomatoes knife since I eat a lot of tomatoes and really just liked the idea of it. It's a good knife, it's sharp, and it cuts tomatoes well. I just don't know if it's necessary to have a separate knife for tomatoes because it does not do any different or better of a job than the Santuku knife that I purchased. Again, it is a good knife and does the job well, it just depends on if you have a need or want for a separate tomato knife. If you already have a knife that cuts tomatoes well I don't think this does any different or better of a job. Good knife, not necessarily necessary!!There's *only* one way to properly slice a tomato that's with a knife expressly designed for it. Wanting a quality such knife (but affordable), I bought this. I bought this knife to use at my mom's when I visit each month. She has a set of Cutco knives that I find really difficult to use. This knife has the basic shape I need to get chopping & slicing tasks done. It is sharp, but the balance is a bit off for me. However, for $15 it is decent & because it isn't a knife I use daily, it's acceptable.Read Best Reviews of Cuisinart 8" Chef's Knife - CA4CCK08 Here
This knife works well and holds an edge longer than I thought a knife would. It feels good in your hand and it seems to be made well.Worth the price. When I got this knife and began to open it, I noticed it had a second packge underneath. That package said 19.99. I don't appreciate being charged more than I shoud have. The knife does feel goid in hand, but it is not even close to chef quality IMO as others have stated.

I was happy to see that this spoon works great for lifting home-made noodles out of boiling broth. We use it every time we make noodles.I wanted to replace my ancient white nylon pasta scoop with something better looking. Yes, this is much nicer looking but isn't worth $1, let alone $10! The scoop is big and wide. It is so awkward to use and it really doesn't pick up the pasta it spills over. Glad I didn't ditch my old server.

I have a Henckles 5 Star Santoku and this is several classes better. The steel is ZPD-189 which is a new super steel that can get to a hardness of 67-69 vs about 58 for the 5 star. That means it can hold a much steeper angle and therefore be sharper, it will stay sharp longer too. It's difficult to sharpen but not impossible. The handle for me is comfortable. The only negative is you can get the Miyabi 700MC a lot cheaper. It is the same blade (owned my Henckles, makes the blade for this Twin Cermax) with a different handle.Want Zwilling J.A. We have always been a fan of Henckel knives. When my husbands birthday was coming around I knew I wnated to get him a new knife. I started looking at new Henckels and found this one I am glad I did. I have never used a knife in my own home that is this sharp, easy to hold, and balanced. I can barely keep it clean because we are using it all of the time.
