First of all, the Kake-Kut'r eliminates that awkward situation of having to touch somebody's cake in order to get it on their plate in one piece. (Or trying to manipulate it with serving utensils in both hands--a skill which most of us lack.) You simply slice, gently squeeze the handle, and place it on the plate. If you need to serve a crowd, this thing will help you move people through the line FAST.
Secondly, it does away with the "How big of a piece do you want?" negotiations that always seem to accompany cake service. This much? Is that too much? You want more than that? Yikes, I hate that. And hand carving custom sized pieces also tends to make the cutting lines go jagged and uneven.
This set comes with three servers, one each for rectangle, square, and wedge shaped servings. The ivory style handles dress the pieces up just a little, so they look right at home next to an elegant cake.
Almost every guest that came through the line commented on how impressed they were with my Kake-Kut'r, and I was surprised that none of them had seen one before. I plan to buy several sets to keep on hand as hostess gifts, thank you gifts, etc. Just when I thought I owned every conceivable kitchen gadget, I found one more I can't live without!
