I have butchered several kinds of tasty animals using this knife, and it's excellent. The handle is easy to grasp, ergonomically pleasing, and retains its grip even when greasy or bloody, though is far safer when clean. The blade is well shaped, has exactly the stiffness yet flexibility needed for everything from breaking down beef or pork halves to cutting up a chicken for dinner. If you work or learn in an environment where many people have their own knives, the unique serial number on the blade will settle any and all ownership disputes. The knife arrives factory razor sharp, and is easy to keep that way on a waterstone. If you mess up in spite of its inherently safer design and construction, you WILL cut yourself badly it works on you meat every bit as well as it works on food meat. I do not see this as a detriment, it just means it does exactly what it's supposed to do. As all knives of its type, this is meant to have the hell used out of it and then replaced once it's been sharpened down to a needle. At the $17 I paid for it, that's a whole lot of hell you get for your money.
If you use a boning knife a lot, you want to have this one in your knife kit.
