It may be difficult to see in the stock photo, but the first half of the handle is a brushed stainless and the remainder is polished. This wouldn't be an issue if the brushed part wasn't so susceptible to scratches. Out of the box over half of the utensils were scratched and I hadn't even used them yet. In addition, the end corners of the handles are very sharp and borderline dangerous. I wouldn't recommend these if you have kids or depressed people living in the house.These Mikasas will be going back and I'm splurging for the 8-piece Henckels set with serving utensils for only $35 more.
