This was my first proper cook's knife, and it has made knife work much less of a chore. No more crying when I cut onions. I've used it a few times a week for about four months now, with no maintenance besides a bit of honing every few days, and the edge is still good. From what I could find, these US-made SofGrip and Sani-Safe knives have better edges than the Dexter Basics line. At the time of purchase, this knife cost 50% less than the comparable Victorinox Fibrox, which is probably the most similar thing on the market. If you are looking for an entry-level pointy object to cut things with, this is a good deal.
