These are nice shears but a little on the heavy side. The grip is also two wide for little hands. It does come apart for easy cleaning and snaps together for safety when not in use.

Just be careful when unlocking, the spring causes the two halves to separate. You could end up dropping it on your foot which would not be good.

Bought this for my mom a few years ago. She has pain in her fingers/hands, so I bought her this to make it easier to cut apart chicken/turkeys during the holidays. She loves it, they're heavy enough to reduce cutting effort and sharp enough to cut though solid bone. It does disassemble for cleaning and I will probably buy a set for myself eventually.
