Update: I've had to take away one star and rate these a four as I've had several forks from the middle of the package with splinters and have had to throw away at least four or five so far for fear of a splinter in my tongue. The others have been fine though. We love this cutlery and use it regularly for family picnics and outdoor dining. Children find them easy to use and we can drop them in the compost bin afterward. No washing up and we can eat anywhere without the guilt of using plastic disposables. They're suitable for main course and desserts.

These forks definitely did the trick at our wedding reception picnic. But they fell apart pretty easily. If you are planning on using them, don't bite too hard or try to tear at a steak! The knives from the same manufacturer held up a little better, but overall I'd recommend using these for lighter foods.Read Best Reviews of Birchware Compostable Wooden Forks 100/pcs. Here
Aloha, I received my order of the birchware forks, knives, and spoons and love the look of the wood. My only concern is that the forks are way too small too be used as dinner forks... maybe for dessert. Where can I get larger birchware forks?Yeah, so they are like popsicle sticks with four little prongs at the end. Okay for adults I suppose, but you have to watch out for all the splinters. If children are involved at least a few will be heard screaming for their mother with wood and blood sticking out of their mouth. Seriously, cant these be sanded any better? I suppose its the price you pay for being eco friendly, Better the kids though than your in-laws.
