This is a great item well built and has many uses. You can use it to evenly cut spam or canned corned beef, etc. Plus it slices mushrooms and other things as well. Would not suggest it for cheeses as you may break the cutting wires.

I purchased this item, cleaned it in the dishwasher, then used it to cut meat & cheese for a party. It functioned perfectly! I put it in the dishwasher again (I'm pretty sure nothing was touching it), and now the metal strings don't line up with the plastic slots for them anymore. If I pull the handle towards to one side I can still get it to slice, but that is rather inconvenient. I may try to bend the bars a little to make them line up again, but the metal handles are surprisingly sturdy and the metal strings seem rather flimsy so it may be difficult to get it lined up again without breaking the metal strings.

This item works very well, but I was shocked at how large it is! It is probably 8 inches long & 5 inches wide!

There is no doubt in my mind that I DO LIKE spam for breakfast, lunch or anytime for a shack BUT how every I do restrict myself to 1 slice for breakfast only. By turning the spam 90 degrees I get 11 evenly sliced slices of about 65.5 calories each.

Works great, just wish the wires were a little closer together so we could get slighly thinner slices. Other than that, it works great and same me some time.
