These get the job done. The Wusthof guards are excellent as well, but the size range is more limited.Btw, I do NOT recommend knife blocks! Two reasons: first of all if someone puts a knife into them that's not completely clean, it's impossible to get that slot clean. I've literally seen Lab experiments growing inside of wooden blocks. But the main reason is that a block full of knives can be easily tipped over! Try it: using one finger, pull down on the end of a handle. (Think of small hands reaching up, and all of a sudden having a shower of knives come down!) Magnetic bars are excellent if your kitchen allows it. Otherwise, use knife guards. (If you're anal like Martha Stewart, you can draw the outline of each knife on the bottom of the drawer.)I had some apprehension when buying this to protect my new Kyocera ceramic utility knife because of the above review. However, contrary to the above review, the product works quite well and you can actually just slide the blade in blunt-side first instead of blade first. Of course, I am writing this review on the first day of owning the edge-guard. I will update if anything changes.
