I would have liked to see these knives last longer without getting little rust spots, but overall they held up for a few years and for the price I don't think you can beat the quality. Our knives are approx 4 years old.I didn't want to "skimp" on knives like I had in the past, but since they were Kitchenaid and only $30 I figured it wouldn't be the end of the world. I really love these knives! They slice as good as my mother's $200 set. (They cut through chicken like butter!) And if rust does become an issue, Old Dutch or Vim remove it easily. I highly recommend these knives to anyone that does a lot of cooking and doesn't want to spend a fortune. Enjoy!

I bought these on sale from the local grocery store, damaged box only. A great deal at $20.The knives are really sharp, I know these are only cheap compared to how much you could spend on knives but a good 'intro' set for the beginner. I'd only ever had hand me downs or walmart sets before and the difference with sharp knives when cooking is amazing!
Much more enjoyable.
I've never had a problem with any Kitchenaid product, they are usually built well and good value.
These do rust easily though however someone in our household, who shall remain nameless, did put some of them in the dishwasher and they are the ones that have rusted a little.
Handwash only!

I picked up this knife set on Black Friday a few years back for $30, which is a steal. Previous to purchasing this I had a smaller knife set that I had picked up from Ikea for $20, so that's what I had to compare these knives to. And the difference was beyond compare. When I purchased this set, the lower block, with the steak knives, was actually removable in case you wanted to place it on the dinner table for serving. A nice touch.
Included in the set is the following:
1 Santoku knife
1 bread knife
1 chef's knife
1 slicing knife
1 paring knife
4 steak knives
1 knife sharpener
1 pair of chef's scissors
These knives are wonderful quality and remained sharp for a very long time. My favorite among them is the Santoku. I love its curved edge for chopping up vegetables. The slicing knife is extremely sharp and is great for quickly cutting up chicken breasts. The steak knives are great, but are probably the lightest of the set. I think they're the weakest link, so to speak, but they're still better than the average dinner knife.
I've also experienced what other people have reported about rust, but only on the steak knives. The other ones are going strong with no marks whatsoever. I've never used the sharpener included with this set because I'm sure there's an art to it and, having no experience, I wouldn't want to accidentally do something wrong and mess it up, so I can't comment on how effective it is.
I'm sure there are nicer knife sets out there, but these are a great value as a starter set for the money. And they blow those old Ikea knives right out of the water in terms of durability and sharpness. I think this is a worthwhile investment and I've had mine for three years now.

I was cutting an apple with my chefmate set from target when I could not cut through an apple! Time for a new set. Looked on amazon and these seems to fit the bill. Not too expensive but quality. The set of knives seemsed to be a good middle of road choice. This is a good basic set of knifes that have a sharp edge and actually cut. I was pleased with this product and how it worked. Good knives and a sharp pair of scissors as well.
