My cousin gave me this set a year ago as an apartment-warming gift, and I highly recommend them! I've used the shears to cut through cardboard, the rubbery bottoms of shoes, and a sturdy plastic flower pot, to name just a few. They come apart, so they are easy to wash. (I've also used them for cutting veggies and plastic packages.) Truly an all-purpose pair of shears. The knife is also very sharp, and is my favorite knife of all of the ones that I have.
