Lamson & Goodnow 10113 4-1/2-Inch KnifeSafe

Bought this to protect our valuable fingers after purchasing a Shun Steel Angled 4-inch Paring Knife. Although this is a 4.5" model, it very barely fits the 4" Shun blade -there's still a little corner of knife sticking out the back, which is somewhat dangerous. As well, it's difficult to open when on the knife. I give it three stars because it does technically do more than having a naked knife in the drawer, but I'd recommend going with a KnifeSafe about an inch larger than your knife based on my limited experience.

These work for me exactly as advertised. They keep your knife "safe" from damage and prevent the knife from damaging other things. A great value and I've used 2 of them over 2 years without any noticable wear.

Unfortunately this did not fit my global 4 1/2'' pairing knife. Actually could not find one that fit so I bought a 6'' chef knife guard and cut the excess off in a miter box with a hand saw.

I bought all of my daughters these to prevent my Grandchildren from getting hurt by the knives. They work well and even my Grandson who always finds a way into things hasn't been able to open them.

My one daughter has mentioned that if you pull hard and in the right way you can get it out of the case without using the opening, I don't have one to try so that is why I gave it a 4 star.

Purchased them for Christmas 2010.
