This finger guard is what was needed to keep my long thumbnail from getting nicked with the cutting knife. I have long fingernails and this guard protects all my fingers. I can hold onto the two rings in back in various positions depending on what I am chopping and I don't have to worry about getting cut. The only thing is that when I get to the end of a vegetable, I have to remove the guard to chop the last little tidbits. Otherwise, a very useable kitchen aid.

Don't waste your hard earned money on this thing. It doesn't work, it's hard to keep hold of and it your fingers are too big, too long or for that matter too thin and short it will end up where mine did...in the trash!
