Victorinox Swiss Classic Come Apart Kitchen Shear, Packaged

Victorinox Swiss Classic Come Apart Kitchen Shear, PackagedI looked it over and can say the shear is very substantial and razor sharp. Was not able to use it at the party.

I love these kitchen shears. I never had them before and I wonder why it took so long to buy them.

Since I already own several Victorinox kitchen knives which I have been extremely pleased with, I figured it was worth taking a shot on some surprisingly not-so-positively reviewed shears to go with my knives. I don't understand why others comments were negative. I found these to be as well made & precise as the chef's knife, santoku, paring knife, & bread knife that I already have. Regarding the comment from another reviewer about the (supposed) danger of the shears coming apart so easily, let me make it clear that you have to open the blades abnormally far apart (you definitely cannot open them that wide if holding them like you would normally hold scissors) to get them to separate, which is actually pretty standard for kitchen shears if you ask me... I prefer that kitchen shears fully separate like these so that I can clean them thoroughly.

I find these to be well-balanced & precise in the hand, especially when trimming chicken & meats. Again, I don't understand why these have been reviewed poorly in the past & think them a great match to go with other Victorinox kitchen products.

These are great shears, super sharp and easy to disassemble and clean. I wish I would have purchased them sooner.

I bought this to replace the lost Victorinox scissors from our knife block. They are nearly identical, except where the original scissors had a permanent bolt attaching the two blades, this one has a bolt that is designed so when you open the scissors all the way, the blades separate. I'd imagine this is to easily clean or sharpen the blades. I don't think a lot of thought went into it, however:

Because when you grab the scissors by one handle, the other handle falls open and the second blade comes loose and falls to the floor...or through your foot! The first time this happened, the blade stuck into my oak floor like a spear.

I do not recommend these scissors simply for the safety issue.
