The tip of the knife curves down towards the cutting board ever so slightly. It makes a nice beak that severs the slice. The thinner but more numerous serrations (compared to other bread knives) make the initial cut into the bread easier. I've noticed more precise cuts into my bread. Nicely weighted up front for good balance.
