You can't always judge the quality of a product just on price (esp when it comes to Amazon's pricing !). This is a quality sharpner but with a budget price tag. Excellent brand, durablity, and fuction (keeps my knives really sharp with little effort). If you are looking at purchasing some quality knifes I would recommend buying this sharpner right from the start, to keep your knifes in tip-top shape from the beginning. I love the little chopping board the sharpner comes with its very handy, and was a nice touch to an already great deal. Unless your knives are in really bad shape, you should only have to use the fine side of this sharpner. So get this sharpner before you knives have already lost there edge. Recommended ++.

Con's It's arguable that using a steel gives a better edge, (but this sharpner still keeps knives almost as sharp as using a steel, and does not cause damage like an electric sharpner can).

Because it is very essential that your knives are always the sharpest possible, I believe that this sharpener is so convenient to use that it makes this process very easy. The two stage sharpening process is really all you need for every day use. One slot sharpens and the second hones the blade and keeps it smooth. I really like it.

This knife sharpener does just what it claims, without taking over your kitchen with more than it needs to be (eg an undercabinet mounted electric version -just overkill in my opinion). I sharpened all of my knives in just a few minutes.

The board is smaller than I think the photo shows...but nice and perfect for cutting limes or other items that you don't need a lot of room for. I think it is a nice freebie, because I saw the sharpener alone for more money on this site at the same time I saw this. Combined it for free shipping too!

I've only used 1 form of knife sharpening for almost 15 years, the wetstone. It truly is a magnificent product and given some time and can make any knife razor sharp, but it does require some skill to use. This sharpener though is idiot proof, run my Wusthofs in and out a few time on each slot and the knives were back to their original factory sharpness in less than a minute. Truly a great product.
