A stable base and ease of use makes this almost perfect. Knowing which angle your knife has before use a problem for us beginners. It woulf be nice to have a hole or a ring on it that allows hanging it when not in use. Big improvement and more durable edge when compared to those cheaper white and blue handled V sharpeners. I recommend without reservation.
