Stanton Trading 18 by 24 by 1/2-Inch Cutting Board, White

The cutting board that I received was not 1/2 in thick as described, but 3/8 in. Unfortunately this was, for my application, the most important dimension.

I ordered both a 24 inch long and 30" long board, both of which are advertised as 1/2" thick. The 30" board was almost a half inch thick and the 24" board was about 30% less thick than advertised. I guess it's like buying a 2x4 at the lumber yard but I didn't know that applied to cutting boards. Not a big deal for counter top use but I bought mine to compliment a recessed fish cleaning station and now it's not going to be thick enough to stand as high as I expected. Also, this may have been clear and I missed it but neither side is smooth like my other cutting boards; both sides have a rough texture that seems to me will be hard to clean and also a germ growth invitation.

The Stanton Trading cutting board is really nice to have around the house. It is large enough to use over the sink, however, it is much thinner than listed. Instead of 1/2" it is actually a little less than 3/8" which allows it to bend and flex when nothing is supporting it. Because of this I will be using it on the counter instead of over the sink.

Stanton makes two thicker versions of this white cutting board, but at much higher prices. They list a 3/4" and a 1" board, but I have no idea what the real thickness would be since they were not accurate with the measurements of this one. They also make this sized board in different colors for those who are worried about cross contamination:

WHITE is for bakery and dairy

BLUE for raw seafood

RED for raw meats

GREEN for vegetables and fruit

YELLOW for raw poultry

BROWN for cooked meats.

However, I just wash my white board after every use, as do most professionals (which I am not, but I try to learn from them.)

Besides the board being thinner than advertised, it is a good item. I still use a bamboo board but this one will serve as a good auxiliary cutting surface and prep area which will be especially useful during the holidays.

Tired of the carrots rolling off the board? Tired to having to throw away onion peels to make room for doing anything else? Tired of piles of chopped potatoes spilling over onto the counter? Look no further. This giant board solves all those problems. It is really a large surface. I recommend measuring where you want to use it so you can imagine it sitting there. Also, since you'll need to wash it, measure your sink so you can imagine if it'll be really annoying to wash it in there. An extendable faucet head is very useful for washing it since it is so large... flipping it over in sink would be a bit annoying. For us...5 stars.
