Kershaw 1120M TaskMaster Kitchen Shears with Magnetic Plastic Sheath

Kershaw 1120M TaskMaster Kitchen Shears with Magnetic Plastic SheathOrdered these two days ago and already received via Amazon Prime so got a decent price and fast free shipping. I was pleased with the shears when they arrived and look like they will do the job though I have not tried cutting chicken yet which seems to be how most here have rated them. But I need to note, as others have briefly stated, these are not "Shun" though the package does say Shun. Nowhere on the blades or anywhere else will you find the name Shun, just the package. Rather these are Kershaw Taskmaster. Some noted that it was fine because Kershaw makes Shun. That may be true but the fact is these are branded Kershaw Task Master and they are stamped on the blade #1120 Japan. Well if you look up Task Master they offer this exact model (#1120) stamped exactly the same. If you order the Model 1120 Kershaw Task Master you will get this exact set of shears. You won't get a similar one that has a different model or is stamped Shun or anything else. You have a choice, you can order thse and pay for Shun or you can save yourself about $8.00 and order the Kershaw. I know that seems like a small amount, but to get the exact same thing, it only makes sense to order the cheaper one.

This is not a knock on the shears themselves. They are fine and I am pleased. Just be aware that you get the exact same thing by ordering a cheaper version.

Next to my chef's knife, this is the number one most used tool in my kitchen! These shears cut smoothly & easily, they're sharp enough for any task you might want to put them to. They're also sturdy and comfortable, the plastic handle doesn't slip or slide. They disassemble easily for cleaning, but stay solidly together when you want them together. The add-on features like bone notch and bottle opener all work well, but I like the notches on the inside of the handle, which are meant to be grips for opening jars and such. This is a genuine multitasker and does about a dozen different tasks (and does them well).

The plastic sheath shown in the picture has a magnet attached, designed to stick to your fridge, oven, or hood. This might be handy for those of you without space in your knife block or drawer but these shears are magnetic themselves so I just stick them along side the rest of my cutlery on my magnetic strip.

One note about branding: Shun is owned by Kershaw. These shears are marketed as part of the Shun cutlery sets, but mine say Kershaw on the blade. Don't sweat itthe names are basically interchangeable. The Kershaw brand makes some great utility/pocket knives, by the way. I owned Kershaw knives long before I ever bought my first Shun. And if you're a really observant fan of Good Eats, you'll notice that Alton Brown's pocket knife is a Kershaw ;)

I cut up at least a pound of chicken wings every day (365 days a year) for our dogs. I've had numerous other poultry shears, less and more costly than this pair but none as good. They make a tedious chore into an easy chore what else is there to say? Could do without the screwdriver bit and the bottle opener; perhaps it was intended to be a Survival Tool. Anyway buy'em and cut away.

These shears are great for all kinds of things around the house besides just in the kitchen. They have always felt sturdy and you can feel the quality when you're cutting things from herbs to chicken. I would highly recommend these if you want a pair of shears that you want to keep for a very long time.

Got these as a gift and they've been working great! They cut through very tough items that you normally wouldn't use scissors for. Plus, all of the extra features on these scissors help out around the kitchen. They come very sharp and the hinge seems to be very strong. My only quibble--which is very minor--is the magnet on the plastic holder/case is a little weak; I have these along the side of my fridge and sometimes when putting the scissors back into the holder, the magnet drops down a little. Again, minor quibble. Other than that, these scissors are worth the $$$.
