The bagel slicer is a well made product, but with one small problem. It's size is fixed, making it unable to slice smaller bagels in an even and equal manner. I found myself making some cardboard shims that I could insert on either side to address this problem. I recommend that the manufacturer recognize this problem and provide a set of wood or bamboo or plastic shims that could be inserted at will, depending on the size of the item to be sliced, and stored within the slicer when not in use. The shims should be a little shorter than the width of the slicer, but a bit taller than the slicer for easy use and easy removal

For the price... you can't beat this. Just wish it was not quite as wide. My bagels are coming out not sliced evenly. The top part is thick and the bottom part is thin. But all in all I can work with this and it makes slicing bagels a breeze.

The construction and sturdiness of this bagel cutter are fine, no complaints there. I think this cutter is sized for more traditional bagels, though. The big, fluffy, non-NY-style bagels you can find lots of places (Costo, supermarket bakeries, etc.) are too big for it. You'll be better off getting a larger cutter if your regular bagel is the oversized kind.

Extremely poor quality! The wood is not sanded or finished inside, so it could put splinters into the bagel or one's fingers. Poorly constructed, it looks like a high school shop project gone wrong. This is the first item I've ever reviewed, and I felt compelled to spare others the annoyance of this rough-hewn splinter generator. I have returned this item.
