(Pack of 4) Kid Safe Poly Sandwich Spreaders (Colors May Vary), 7½"
I am terrible about reading the dimensions of items, assuming the size based on the typical size of an item but these are really pretty big. I purchased them to go on a colorful cheese display as spreaders as they came up on an Amazon search for such an item but they were way too big for that purpose. They are very pretty and seem completely safe for kids I am glad I purchased them for my son to use but they didn't suit the purpose I actually purchased them for. My fault for not reading the dimensions!I don't like it when I try to spread mustard on bread and the knife cuts the bread. Use this spreader and you can get the mustrad evenly with one swipe and no fear of ripping the bread. Low-tech and it works. And they are quality!!My mother collects Portmeirion Botanic Garden. The detail in this set is just what you would expect from their china. Tis backpack its cool, but you can carry just your knives and a t shirt, everything else doesnt fit and for the price, you can choose may be a mercer back pack or else.I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of room this backpack has. I would say any chef student or beginner chef should have this backpack. This pack is great for a chef on the go... if you travel across town or across the country this pack is an A+Shun DM0720 Classic Hollow-Ground Slicing Knife, 9-Inch
Kershaw-Shun makes the best knives I've ever owned, bar none. They come with a razor edge and are easy to re-hone with just a few strokes on the Kershaw-Shun steel (well worth purchasing to accompany this set). All their knives utilize the damascus pattern and perfectly crafted profile slice through darn near anything (food-like anyway) with ease. The scalloped detailing on this one creates air pockets which prevent food from adhering to the sides, creating even better cutting efficiency than their already high level. I can cut perfectly thin, beautiful slices from any fish time after time using this fine knife. The weight and balance are perfect. It is designed for right-handed chefs with a d-shaped handle so if you are a leftie it may not be as comfortable or easy to use.I believe if you're serious about cooking, you should own great cookware and excellent knives. I finally stepped up and got excellent knives. For those who haven't heard the hype, Shun is one of the most respected knife brands in the world. Check them out on the Web at kershawknives.com.Great features of the entire line include these cool "D" shaped handles that fit your hand better. Every Shun Classic knife is made in a rightand left-handed version (chefsresource.com for lefties). The handles are made of wood and are specially treated. The steel used for the blades is harder than what you would find in most other knives. The knives are EXTREMELY sharp. One thing to note about Asian knives is that they must be sharpened at a different angle, 16-18 degrees vs. 20 degrees for German knives. The Shun steel takes the guesswork out of getting the angle correct because of the flat edge on one side of the metal disc below the handle.
9-Inch Slicing -This is an impressive knife. It's sleek and sharp like the rest of its siblings. I know the granton edge is supposed to reduce drag, but I'm not certain this is a necessity for a knife I use three times a year. There is a version without the grantons that's a few dollars cheaper.
This is an expensive, but lifetime investment. I encourage you to visit stores and feel the knives in your hand to make sure you are comfortable with them. For more info on Shun, check out Alton Brown's website. For ratings on various brands and types of knives, check out cooksillustrated.coms' equipment ratings.
Shun is probably the best kitchen purchase I've made and the one I'm most proud of.

Want Shun DM0720 Classic Hollow-Ground Slicing Knife, 9-Inch Discount?
I'm a big fan of Shun knives and own several other. You could get away slicing meat with a chef's knife, but the low profile and length on this make it much easier. The metal on these knives are brittle, so you need to take care to avoid hitting the fork. Also be sure to cut on wood or plastic only. If it's your first time with a high-quality knife -these things are sharp, so be warned. Electric knives shred the meat and seem to make more juices fall out, not the case with a manual knife like this. Pick up a smooth honing steel if you don't already have one to keep the edge straight.Eastern Tabletop 9559 8-Inch Stainless Steel Pastry Tong

We got this flatware set for our wedding. We had it on a dept store registry but it is made in Korea and Vietnam (Wedgewood version). Oneida Stockholm 5-Piece Place Setting
This flatware set is very attractive and has a nice weight. However, after I purchased 12 setting, I found out that it is not possible to purchase a flatware chest that will fit this style. I e-mailed Oneida, they told me It is unlikely that I will find a storage chest for this flatware set. I am very disappointed. Can anyone offer a suggestion?EURO-WARE KG35B 10 Piece Cutlery Set With Cutting Board
My expectations weren't high and since I don't cook, basic cutlery is fine by me. If you want any quality cutlery, I definitely don't suggest it. The cutting board was dried up and therefore cracked but, again, since I don't cook I don't really use it. There's three or four key knives that I use that make this worth the price. But, if I had done more research, I probably would have spent a couple more dollars on something that provided me a knife block instead of the crappy cutting board.Chicago Cutlery Deluxe Shears
This is my second pair--these things are worth their price and are of solid quality. Given their sturdy build (they cut through small bones from birds, etc., with ease), and multiple functions (bottle opener, grips on the interior handle to wrench out corks, etc.), I reach for these guys about as much as I do my knives when in the kitchen. A big bonus is that these are "come-apart" shears, which makes cleaning a cakewalk. Not great, but not too expensive either. I prefer the Farberware 4-in-1 Ultimate Shears, but they cost more and my wife misplaced mine. I bought these then found the others, so I can compare. These are less ergonomic, particularly for my large hands, and they are made of a noticeably thinner metal. On the positive side, they stay sharp and they have a notch that facilitates cutting things like rose stems.Totally Bamboo Butcher Block, Large
This is the best choping block I've ever owned. Notice I didn't call this a board, as the brawny thickness of this product with the substantial feet(with rubber bottoms to prevent slipping) brings this up quite a few notches from mere ordinary cutting boards. This is a chopping block to end all chopping blocks. I can only compare this to butcherblock, but made from Green, eco friendly, self renewable bamboo. You're doing the environment a favor by going with bamboo over synthetic boards/mats, and even over traditional wood such as red maple.I love red maple, don't get me wrong. Aside from the green advantages, bamboo is 16% stronger than Red Maple. Its not going to dull your knives significantly faster, at least nowhere near the extent of the fools who cut on glass or marble as a cutting board. I still can't believe some people preach using infinately harder surfaces like marble to cut on. Sure its a snap to clean up, but you're going to be cutting with a popsicle stick after all the sharpening sessions you're going to have to perform on your knives.
This block has a good feel when chopping on it. it doesn't move, it's not too high when set on a counter top, and its so darn beautiful I leave it out all the time.
To get the maximum life from your block, keep 3 things in mind.
1) don't intentially try to damage the board. with enough effort, sure you can impale your blade and make it stick. Why oh why would you want to do that? also I wouldn't put a hot pan on the board. unlike countertops, bamboo burns. :P
2) treat your board with mineral oil right after you buy it, and before you use it! Any food grade mineral oil will do, you don't have to stick with something that is "certified" for bamboo. Food Grade mineral oil is what you should use, and you can get it in the supermarket or drug store. I use the mineral oil designed as...don't laugh...a laxative. It's 100% food grade, and is safe to treat your bamboo or any wooden board. It's also a lot cheaper than wood treatment mineral oil. Simply apply some oil to a soft lint free cloth and rub it in, leaving a thin layer behind. go away for a half hour and come back. repeat. keep doing this until the board doesn't soak in anymore. Wipe the excess off with a dry cloth and you're ready to use it! Every few months apply the oil again to keep the wood from drying out.
3) Cleaning! some people use mild soapy water. I like to use distilled white vinegar applied with a soft sponge (not a scrubber) and then wiped dry with a towel. Vinegar kills bacteria and does a fantastic job cleaning, as long as you don't mind the smell. I water down my vinegar a little bit (a little stronger than 50/50) and keep it in a spray bottle. Clean your block using vinegar(or mild soapy water) after each use. Its easier to get the food off when its not dried on the surface (and in any cuts that may be on the surface).
If you follow those 3 steps I bet this block will last you a lifetime. I've had mine only a week and I love it! Yes, it is expensive compared to other alternative products. you can get a similar sized cutting board made from bamboo for $15 and be happy. I personally think the manufacture and quality of this product merits the price tag. This sucker is not going to be splitting or cracking anytime soon.My compliments to Totally Bamboo and Amazon for carrying such a quality product I highly recommend it. The shipment arrived promptly, and the block was well packed and protected. When I opened the box, I couldn't believe how beautiful and brawny this block is. The pictures don't do it justice. It is extremely well made tightly crafted, very smooth and silky to the touch, substantial, but not too heavy to easily lift and move. The legs are just the right height and the rubber feet hold it nicely in place. It gives a very satisfying "thunk" when chopping and dicing, slicing and mincing are a joy. Very easy care wipe with hot, soapy water or vinegar and treat with wood oil as needed. Goodbye, wimpy acrylic and rough wood............hello beautiful bamboo! I give it a big TEN and will be purchasing more Totally Bamboo products.
Edited to add: Since purchasing this chopping block, I have discovered a wonderful product for treating wood and cast iron. It's a food grade mix of beeswax and mineral oil and can be found on eBay, sold by Wooden Wonders. Name is Beeswax Butcher Block Conditioner. It's thick and has a firm texture, meaning more beeswax and less oil. Great product!

Totally Beautiful cutting board/chopping block! Some reviews stated that they were experiencing splitting, which was probably the result of not prepping the board properly prior to use.
Heres how....
Apply mineral oil generously with a basting brush. Dont use a rag or sponge, as both will absorb more of the oil than the board when applied.
When I say generously, I mean it. Just squirt the mineral oil directly to the surface of the board and spread out as if "painting" the entire surface, both sides, and even the feet.
I did this everyday for a week, until the board was saturated and could not absorb any more, you will be surprised how many applications this board will absorb, its like a sponge, due to its end grain design, as well as its original dry state.
Your last application, when the board seems to be well conditioned, I would say after 5-6 applications of the above process, in a small bowl or glass, mix about a 1/2 cup of mineral oil with 2-3 Tbs natural bees wax and heat in microwave for about 45 seconds.
This last "hot coat" application will seal your board properly, and is ready for use.
Those that have reported cracking and seperation, more than likely didnt cure their board properly before initial use which usually results in those type of issues.
Another tip, dont set your crock pot, toaster oven, or any hot pan on your board. Its a cutting board not a hot pad.

This is an absolutely gorgeous cutting board. This board is VERY heavy, and has nice, sturdy legs. It's not going anywhere while you're cutting, so no more sliding cutting boards. It's easy to clean just a little soap and water, and dry it afterwards. Every now and then rub it with some food-safe wood oil, and you're set. I highly recommend this!Want Totally Bamboo Butcher Block, Large Discount?
I've had one of these cutting boards for about 3 years and it's in great shape despite daily use. It shows little if any wear, and it's very comfortable to cut on.The only problem I've observed is that one of the four feet, which are made of bamboo, has developed a small crack, probably from being wet too often.
You do need to wash it with soap and water to prevent the cross-contamination of of foods, especially after cutting things like raw chicken on it. Be sure to dry it well.
As with any similar product, the Totally Bamboo Butcher Block cutting board should be rubbed with a generous coat of mineral oil anytime it shows signs of dryness. It will require more frequent oilings when it's new, say once a week, but that should drop off to once or twice a month after you've been using it for a while, depending on how often you wash it.
Lastly, some people claim that bamboo is too hard for cutting boards and can dull and damage knives, especially thinner Japanese kitchen knives. I have not found that to be the case, nor did Cook's Illustrated when it gave a smaller Totally Bamboo end-grain cutting board top honors in its January 2008 review.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Joseph Joseph Cooking Gift Set, Eggplant
These are great! I am very happy with them. The tongs alone are worth the money. They worked so much better than the old metal tongs without scratching my coated pans and the little 'stand' kept my counter clean. The streamer basket is heavier yet much more flexible and sturdier than flimsy metal baskets. The scoop colander is great for scooping vegetables out of a crockpot so you can thicken the broth, do much better than trying to spoon them out, leaving all the juices in the pot.Zhen Japanese VG-10 Light Cleaver Vegetable Chopping Chef Knife 7"
The Pros. The design, and ergonomics of this knife are superb. It is well balanced, with a very nice convex grind to the blade. The clip point is extremely useful, and on the other end, the flat heavy pommel on the handle is ideal for crushing garlic, etc. The steel is very hard, and maintains an edge well. The TPR covering on the sculptured handle provides a secure grip at all times.
The Cons.
The biggest design flaws are the so called non-stick texture, (the black band at the edge of the blade), and the awful hollow grind finish that is put on the edge.
My first tests out of the box were disappointing. Totally failed the tomato test, which is to draw the blade backwards 1/2" across a tomato with only the weight of the knife to make a cut. I stone sharpened the edge, and tried again. Nice slices, but the roughened area produces a lot of drag, and the slices stuck to the blade anyway. I also found that the surface is so coarse, that when I first washed and dried the knife, bits of towel fiber were stuck all over it.
I have removed the nasty non stick surfaces from my knife, (I am an amateur knife maker, so don't do this at home), and removed the hollow grind. It is now the best knife I've ever bought.
In retrospect, I would not recommend this version of the knife. I would have to suggest the more expensive Damascus model, which has neither the non-stick band, nor the hollow grind at the edge. What a quality knife!! It is razor sharp to say the least, the one-piece construction gives a sturdy-feel and good weight when cutting, very well made. The grip is comfortable and I am a big fans of the non-slip design, made it that much safer to use. Better yet, it is so versatile, I can cut meats, vegetables, fruits (you name it) without the hassle of switching back and forth on different knifes. Highly recommended! It will be awesome if I can find some steak knives from them.

Amco Tomato Slicer
Maybe for the mozzarella cheese, maybe even for a hard boiled egg or an apple, but for tomatoes, don't even try it....you'll mash the poor thing. I got mine through a school fund raiser and have no way to get my money back. I'll try it on other things, but never for my tomatoes. And as was stated previously, the cleaning of the device is hazardous.Does not slice well at all, & when it does the slices are much to thick. Pretty much crushes the tomato. I should return it but am to lazy. :)Every week I try to cook atleast one thing new, I'm also looking for tools to help make it easier. This has defiantly helped!I eat a lot of tomatos, probably more than the average person. I would use this device to make one of my favorite treats a tomato and pickle salad. It worked a few times but soon the blade warped and began to cut into the plastic base. I love the whole idea of this product and hope to find something similar that I can use in its place.Slices fingers, too...and that was in the store (no packaging). BE CAREFUL! Also, the razor sharp blades would make this thing hard to safely clean after use.Global GS-6 - 4 inch, 10cm Paring Straight Knife
As with the other Globals I own, this knife always puts a smile on my face when I use it. It's real handy for the little chopping and trimming jobs.I own a variety of knives -Henckels, Wusthof, Forschner -and know how to keep them very sharp, but the first time I used a Global it was like stepping into a new level of sharpness and control. Whatever they're doing differently in the design and manufacturing of these knives, it's right. This is my 16th or so Global Knife. I love their design and functionality. If they are being treated properly, they remain an awesome kitchen tool (my oldest Global knives are more than 10 years old). They do not need a lot of sharpening due to their high quality steel. Over the years, I had them sharpened quite a few times (in addition to my own sharpening with a high quality ceramic sharpener and a Japanese sharpening block) and the blade shape has not changed at all. Love them and highly recommend them.

Unless you have a belt sander and plan on doing some refinishing, do not purchase this item. The label is half the size of the board and is impossible to remove.
