This little gadget works great for parties or for spreading butter, peanut butter, salad dressing, or the like when making multiple sandwiches, wraps, crackers, or other finger food. It stands up instead of having to rest it on a plate. As such, the blade is less likely to become contaminated with bacteria etc. For this reason, it works well for parties. Although it is suppose to be used for cheese, I use it for other spreadables. I haven't used it for cheese.
