Chef Craft 20494 Roller Style Knife Sharpener

I've had one of these for about 20 or 30 years and finally decided it was time to replace it. After searching online this appeared to be the same BUT the quality is definitely not the same quality as the old model. The little rubber wheel covers come right off when trying to sharpen a knife. It seems to sharpen OK but having to re-seat the wheel covers is a nuisance.

The second time we used it the wheel fell off and broke. We had one for years and misplaced it I a move I got this one thinking it was the same but it is made a lot cheaper.

My dad used this style sharpener when I was growing up, and I remembered it working so well. When I went to buy one of my own 15 years later, I was surprised to only find new sharpener designs in the local stores -huge clunky, tabletop sharpeners that didn't seem to work. After trying several of these with no success, I ran a search on Amazon and was happy to find that this "wheel" design still exists! By far, the easiest to use (just go slowly to be safe) and the most practical.
