Chef'n Garlic Slice

I have used this a couple of times now. I love how easy it is once you get the hang of it. You have to cut the garlic in half or thirds before you put it into the compartment, otherwise you'll have a heck of a time trying to push the giant spring-top down and then twisting it to lock. It's so easy and fast to slice your garlic and all the slices are of uniform thickness. It really saves me time since I'm so slow at slicing and my hands stay relatively garlic free. After using a similar product I was sold on the garlic slicer but this one does not compare. The compartment is small and only 1/3 of my head of garlic would actually fit in the chamber. I am returning it and going to the competitor website to order the one I had previously used which is no longer available on Amazon.I, too, had great hopes for this item, but once you actually put any garlic in it, unless it is a TINY clove, the top will not close unless you use a great deal of force. Once you jam a clove or two into it, it does slice them very thinly, but it is such a pain that I will never use it again. If the hopper were deeper and wider it would probably work pretty well. If, like me, you cannot cook without adding garlic, this little gadget is for you! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this garlic slice. You get used to just how many cloves can be put into it, at a time, and, after that it's a breeze! I don't know how I survived without it. AWESOME!!I have to put the piece of garlic tightly into a small hole and then push with great force to close and twist the top closed so I can then slice. The slices are great, but the effort required trying to get it into the slicer is awful. Anyone who has strength issues for their hands would not be successful with using this.
