Handy Gourmet Vegetable Peeling Gloves

Handy Gourmet Vegetable Peeling GlovesBeware of spending your hard-earned money on this product. They say put on the gloves and simply rub to remove potato peels WRONG! What they don't tell you in their ad, but it is written in the instructions that come with the gloves is that you have to boil the potatos for 5 to 6 minutes, let them cool and then peel them. I don't know about you, but that sounds like MORE work than just peeling them the old fashioned way. It's not an expensive item, but when you tack on the Seller's shipping and handling costs it comes to about $15.00. And if you return it, not only do you have to pay return postage (which is normal), but in some instances you have to pay a 25% restocking fee. DON'T FALL FOR THIS LIKE I DID! Remember the old adage (which I forgot momentarily) that "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is"! In this case, that is absolutely true!

I thought these gloves sounded great so was stupid enough to

buy one for me and three for my daughter and daughter-in-laws!!

They are completely useless!! You can peel the potatoes in 1/4 of the

time!!! What a waste of money!!!

I'm a impatient person when it comes to cooking. If I can't prepare my foods in under 20 minutes I won't bother.

I seen these tater mitts on TV and was thinking someone out there loves me! It took me a while to get but I ended up winning this off of Ebay because I'm a Ebay junkie and is ticked off!!!

When I took the gloves out of the box I was greeted with a greasy feel and an unpleasant smell. I had to pre-wash these greasy smelly gloves. I went to rub the potato and nothing. I read the instructions because I thought maybe I was doing it wrong but I found out that you have to cook the potato beforehand and then peel it. It claims it's water proof but not heat resistant and the instructions tell you to remove the hot potatoes from the pot and let it cool and then peel. What??? So I tried to do another alternative...Run the potatoes through hot water first and then peel. I will admit the more I rubbed the potato showed some sign of peelage(I know that's not a word)but that was it. I wanted french fries not mashed potatoes so I stopped running it through the hot water. I will say one positive thing about this, if you want a baked potato run the potato through cold water, then rub it with the gloves for a few minutes. It will remove all of the dirt residue off the potato. Other than that, this is a piece of junk.

Have never tried these on vegetables, but got them for pulling (shredding, for non BBQ folks) BBQ pork and beef and they are fantastic! The one size fits all claim is a stretch, as they BARELY fit on my hands. Don't understand the "hard to clean" comments. Just leave them on and wash your hands with dish soap. Voila! Clean gloves.

If you go through all the cooking instructions you will get a pretty much peeled potato, however it is a lot of work. What these glove are really good for is skinning raw chicken. The abrasive gloves grabs on to the slippery skin and that ordinarily hard job is made easy! Canned 17 quarts of chicken legs, all without skin! Beautiful! Easy too!
