Calphalon Katana Cutlery 6-Inch Chef's Knife

My wife bought me this knife a few weeks ago and gave it to me for an early Christmas present. I use it everyday as MY ONLY KNIFE at work. It had held up as good as the day that I bought it. The "China" printed on the side opposite of the Katana lable did throw me off at first but this is true Japanese steel. I breakdown tenderloins, fish, chicken, calimari, and all various vegetables. Potatoes don't stick, cheese doesn't stick. I'd still pick a damascus Shun, Ginsu, or Kyocera over this, but the whole set is beautiful and affordable. I would recommend this for ANY CHEF. The slicer is the best sushi knife I've ever worked with. Great Buy

This knife has an excellent feel in the hand. The handle flows from the blade like a piece of art. I fell in love with Japanese steel ever since I saw Kill Bill, and whenever I use this knife I feel like a Samurai. The blade is beautiful and holds a an edge the is like non other. This knife was a gift from someone close to me, initially I thought I would like another knife with a more prestigious name, but after using this knife for a year, I was so impressed, I bought some to give as gifts to other people who also appreciate its quality.

I bought this knife for my girlfriend (now wife) 6 years ago and it has been her daily kitchen knife since then. It has seen a lot of abuse since then and it still going strong. The only noticeable wear can be seen where the black part of the handle meets the blade. It has slightly separated, but is only noticeable when you really look at it. Other than that the blade is in need of a good professional sharpening. I am slightly amazed at how well it has lasts considering that my wife routinely leaves it submerged in water in the sink, stores it in a cluttered drawer, and has used it consistently for so many years. Definitely worth $50.

This is our second Katana Knifewe have had some very nice knives before, but these stay shark better and the shapes are perfect for each cutting purpose.
