Jaccard Ceramic 5-Inch Sanoku KnifeHad been curious about ceramic knives for a while. Tried to get one of the "Yoshi Blades" from a TV promo, but the delivery time was way too long. Got this one instead and now glad that the TV brand had such bad service in shipping. I use this knife every day, even though I have a high quality set of metal knives. It is everything I expected, sharp, cuts through almost anything very easily. I use a lot of onions in my cooking and this is the ideal knife for chopping and slicing.

I recommend it highly.

I bought this knife as a gift far my sister; I had been wanting to check out a ceramic knife for some time, so it was a bit self centered I guess. Out of the box it was quite sharp as promised, and seemingly not fragile. It's lighter than a steel knife and feels good in the hands while cutting. The real problem, and I think this is a deal-breaker, is that this (and all ceramic knives) need special care to not chip. My sister uses a hard cutting board and it obliterated the blade on this knife. Hard cutting surfaces aren't the only problem, anything hard that hits the blade can potentially chip it. Even for a careful user these could add up over time.

Ceramic knives do have some element of cool factor, and they do work well if maintained carefully, but beware of the special care requirements.

I purchased this ceramic knife for one purpose and one purpose only.....to trim vegetables/fruits without having them discolor from metal blades. I have many high priced top of the line cutlery. Surprisingly, this has become my "go to" choice for many other tasks. Comfortable to use and the perfect size.
