It was sharp out of the package so I just keep it honed and it does whatever is needed. Great for salad prep. If you want a sharp knife with a good handle that's very inexpensive then don't hesitate. Just be sure to hand wash and towel dry it immediately after use and never put it in a dishwasher or it will be ruined..

This is my 2nd Ginsu knife, and it's the only knife I use in the kitchen. It's easy to use and clean. Love it!

This is a great price for a quality knife. It has good weight, the blade is thick enough to crush garlic without bending (something I haven't been able to say about other knives in this price range), and it's very sharp. The stainless steel grip is comfortable to hold.
