I owned this knife for 5 years before it dissapeared (maybe went in the trash by accident), but in that time I really enjoyed it.It's a 6" mini chef's/utility knife made by one of the world's oldest and foremost cutlery makers Victorinox of Switzerland, who also make the Swiss Army knives. The blade is high carbon stainless partial tang with triple riveted rosewood handles. The handles are beautiful (I am not a fan of wood handled knives, but this is the exception) and the blade is very nicely finished and sharp from the factory, one of the sharpest stock knives I've ever owned (along with my other Forschners). It's great steel. Sure it's stamped and not forged and the blade is thin, but that's not bad because it glides through food easily and is easy to sharpen.
The handles are wood so they can collect bacteria (wood handled knives aren't allowed in commercial kitchens anymore because of this) so be sure to keep them clean and oiled up with linseed or vegetable oil. They aren't dishwasher safe! The steel held up great...no rust, pitting, or discoloration.
The price is right-on for a knife of this quality. If you don't like the wood handles, Forschner makes an identical knive with their Fibrox handle, which i also own and strongly recommend.
My only gripe is the blade itself. It doesn't know what to be. It's too short and narrow and light to be a chef's knife, but too big to be a utility knife. It's odd. I'd perfer a 4-1/4" or 5" blade, but if you can get around it this is a great investment and addition to your knife block!
