Wusthof 4-Piece Stainless Steak Set

Wusthof 4-Piece Stainless Steak SetBefore I got these, my boyfriend and I only had two mismatched small knives (that may in actuality be paring knives) that we could use on steak and steak-like substances. I wanted to get more legitimate steak knives in anticipation of future dinner guests who might want to eat such things with us. I chose this set because I have one other Wusthof knife that I love a general Santoku knife that we use for food prep and because they looked simple enough to complement the cutlery I have, as well as whatever else I might buy in the future.

These knives are slightly different from what I was expecting from the photo. The serrated edge is a lot more visible on the other side the side without the Wusthof logo. (If they made these knives without the logo at all, I'd be way more sold on them.) The handles have a really shiny patina not the matte brushed stainless look but maybe I should have expected that the clearly over-exposed photo above was slightly misleading. In the future, if I really want to wow some dinner guests, I'll have to rub them down meticulously to get rid of water spots and fingerprints and other stuff that tends to stand out on super-shiny surfaces.

I guess they're a little too expensive given the final visual effect: With their sheen and their serrated edges, these look more like inexpensive pointy butter knives than steak knives. They're not exactly cheap-looking, but without the telltale logo one wouldn't think they were by Wusthof. All that said, they have a nice weight to them, they feel sturdy, and they do a perfectly fine job of cutting mouth-sized pieces of food.

We love these knives. The are very nice looking and neutral enough to easily pair with our stainless silverware. The weight is good and feel is balanced. Most importantly, they cut very well.

After using Wustof kitchen knives for years, I should not have worried. These exceeded expectations.

Okay knives, but calling them steak knives seems like a stretch. The serrations are very small/mild. Does it cut steak? Sure, but not as well as other ones.

Update: One of the knives developed a pit, so it's essentially lost to rust. Compared to real steak knives these are cheap, but they're still on par with the cost of good flatware, and they don't even live up to that.

I love these. They are functional and look very nice! Worth the money. Better than Henkel knives I have had.

these are the best steak knives. No wooden handles so I can wash in dishwasher. I hear some people mention water spots, I simply wipe with towel and they look shiny & brand new every time.
