Black & Decker Extra Tall Can Opener

Recently, the electronic can opener we have used for the past ten years died. I purchased this BLACK & DECKER EXTRA TALL CAN OPENER to replace it. We've had it for about two months now and really like it. It is a bit taller than the typical electric can opener, but not to tall that it is out of place on the kitchen counter. The added height allows for one to open tall cans. This can opener is the quietest can opener I have ever used; instead of the usual jarring can opener sound, this machine only makes a slight purr. There's a built-in knife sharpener in front and the cutting assembly easily detaches so that it can be cleaned. When I purchased this can opener, it came with a limited two-year warranty. Also, the entire device is lead free. If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive electric can opener, this might be the machine for you.

I purchased this can opener from a discount store about two months ago. I dislike it very much. It will cut about three fourths of the way around then the magnet lets go. Tall heavy cans don't get that far. I have to hold the bottom of the can and support it through two or three attempts to finish the cut. I usually get impatience and just pry it up and risk getting a bad cut. I will replace it soon.

Unit was discolored, scratched & had fingerprints (not my own) all over it; weird considering the removable cutting assembly was bubble-wrapped and brand new. Just returned it and will have to find another, since Amazon can't replace it if they are not the seller. :(
