If you are able to get real bagels as opposed to the bread-like things sold in grocery stores or in the mid-West this knife is for you. I make my own bagels, using high-gluten flour and the boiling method, and the exterior is definitely the "tough" crust of real bagels. Most bread knives had some difficulty biting into the crust and then cutting through the entire bagel.

This Rada bagel knife bit right in and was able to handle the tough bagel crust without damaging the more delicate interior. I've been using it for three years, and the knife is just as sharp as the day I got it.

I would not recommend using this knife on more delicate breads and rolls as the cutting edge is rather coarse. Rada makes a wonderful bread knife and a short bread knife that are ideal for other breads.

Super sharp AWESOME KNIFE, made in the USA, for under seven dollars! and it neatly slices all kinds of breads, buns, and bagels! Also GREAT for slicing up nearly frozen chicken breast for stir frys! Everyone in the kitchen LOVES this knife, but MY personal favorite use is slicing raw cinnamon roll dough! It slices through the roll of dough without tearing or squashing it, and makes PERFECT slices producing beautiful, uniform rolls! Didn't really cut the bagels like I was hoping especially when the bagel is right out of the oven. Mediocre at best.

This blade is sharp and a good size....not a giant bread knife that's too large to carry in a picnic basket. We keep this one there and its light weight so the basket doesn't get too heavy and just the right medium size for storage. We love this knife!
