The Presto is solidly built. It has to control arms which swing up from under the platform and lock in place. It also comes with two very strong knives, straight edge and one serrated. They lock into the post at a chosen level ( notches on the arm ) to give your wrist the leverage it needs to chop down and cut the produce. The knives adjust up and down on the post very easily ( even my wife can do it ) so you can cut in stages when the object is very large. The action works very well and is quite intuitive and very simple. Even my wife ( who is, by the way, the best wife any man could have and sometimes reads my reviews ) can operate it safely.
This is a perfect tool for those tough cutting 'finger-close' moments. It works better than I expected and is one gadget every well-equipped kitchen should have.

This product really works. I was skeptical because it is an "As Seen on TV" product but based on the reviews here I went ahead and purchased it. My husband and I were very pleased with how well this product works. We used it to make Butternut Squash Soup and it made prepping a breeze. It took all of the work out of cutting the squash and also worked great with carrots and onions. It is good for both cutting through large hard vegetables such as sweet potatoes and squash, as well as dicing the vegetables into cubes, etc for use in recipes. The crinkle cut blade can be used to make evenly sized chips or fries. All of the individual pieces seem to be very well made. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has struggled with prepping vegetables for recipes or who wants a safer way to do so.Read Best Reviews of Presto 03830 LeverEdge Cutting Center Cutting Board Here
I purchased mine at a thrift store and it was a GREAT bargain !! Due to aging and the onset of arthritis I have avoided the hard shell veggies...even the melons. Now it's a breeze!!!Want Presto 03830 LeverEdge Cutting Center Cutting Board Discount?
I bought to make it easier for my wife to slice thru spaghetti squash, I haven't tried other types of squash yet.I found it a little easier to use than just a knife. However it is a little bit too small to cut one length wise.
I didn't review the CD that came with it, perhaps it gives a better method. It will take atleast two chops to the point of being able to pull the squash apart. It's alittle less scary than just a knife, and still takes more force for her to cut with . .It's probably great for cutting other less thick foods, but for spaghetti squash not so much.
The product shows promise, but I don't think it's quite ready for "prime time".
