Catskill Craftsmen Pro Series Reversible Cutting Board with Groove

I bought this board several months ago. I only used once so far. The size of board is what I looked for. But the quality is not good at all. I received the board didn't open until couple weeks later. This board has rough surface with so many splinters all over the board. I read lots reviews on websites and thought apply conditioner might solve the problem. So,I bought "Butcher Block Conditioner Food Grade Mineral Oil" on Amazon.

I have applied conditioner on the board 4 times so far. The splinter/rough situation remains same, not even a little better. It has been a while I don't think I even can return it to Amazon. Right now, the board just sit on my kitchen counter as mat.

I just got this cutting board from a brick and mortar store and came on to see others reviews. I unwrapped my board and began cleaning it and found that it has thousands of tiny splinters sticking up all over the board. It is going back to the store. i did not pay this amount of money to sand down an entire board and void my warranty. I am really hoping I can find another board of similar size soon.

Awesome product! I ordered this in the large 30" x 20" size because we've gone a lot more "raw" and I wanted to cover my glass stovetop to protect it and get more prep space. It was the best idea I've had in months!

The board is heavy enough not to shift as I use it, but easy to move if we need to use the stovetop (which is rare). It's a beautiful board on both sides (I use the flat side), easy to clean, and looks great in the kitchen.

Having the large cutting surface is perfect for preparing raw dishes that call for several raw ingredients to be chopped, minced, etc you can have it all on the board, pushing back what you've already prepped and just keep going then assemble at the end. It makes food prep so much easier I love this board :-)

Now I just need a super-fabulous knife! lol

First of all, why don't other companies make boards this size? It is gorgeous and heavylooks like a chef's dream in my kitchen! After washing it for the first time, there were many fine splinters that popped up (raised grain). I lightly sanded (actually used a knife, but next time will get sandpaper) and then wiped Butcher Block Conditioner in the same direction as the grain with a paper towelnow it looks even better than new! The picture here does not do this board justice, trust me!! I have a hunch that this board is only as beautiful as the care you give it, and I am prepared to maintain it so it can last me a lifetime!

This is the second Catskill cutting board I own. You must always have at least two to separate the meats from the veggies. This is what I would consider the perfect size for most consumers but there are larger versions. This is a quality piece that will last at least a decade of use.
