simplehuman Steel Frame Dishrack with Wine Glass Holder and Bamboo Knife Block, Grey

simplehuman Steel Frame Dishrack with Wine Glass Holder and Bamboo Knife Block, GreyWe recently moved into a newly built home with all-stainless appliances. We were attracted to this Simplehuman Steel Frame Dishrack in part because we thought it would be a great match for our new kitchen, which has not only the stainless appliances but also gray countertops. As I mentioned in the video, we also liked the idea of this dish rack's unique drainage system. We have an over-mount sink, and in the past, we have found it near impossible to to get a dish rack to drain adequately into this type of sink. The Simplehuman rack is elevated, allowing its specially designed spout to drain directly into the sink--and it really works! (For more on the drainage system, see my uploaded photos. Please note that the spout swivels 180 degrees, allowing the dish rack to be placed on either side of the sink and in either the long or short position.)

The other special features of this dish rack are highlighted in the video. It has four cup holders which are specifically mounted on the outside of the rack and which come complete with their own drip tray. There is also an easily removable wine glass holder for the other side of the rack; has its own drip tray as well. (The wine glass holder drip tray folds for easier storage--when I'm not using it, I like to store mine right under the dish rack itself for easy access.) Other features include a utensil rack (divided in two) and a bamboo knife holder.

So, although this is a bit expensive for a dish rack, we have been completely satisfied with ours so far. The intelligent design and extra room really do make it seem worth it, plus it looks just perfect in our new kitchen! We would definitely recommend this rack to others, and we will be purchasing more Simplehuman products for our new home.

P.S.: In case anyone is wondering, the pot featured in this review is from the Ecolution Artistry line of eco-friendly, non-stick cookware. I absolutely love my Ecolution pots! I have the 11 Inch Griddle (the first piece I purchased from the set), the 8 Piece Cookware Set, an extra 2 Quart Saucepan with Lid, and the Chicken Fryer.

UPDATE June 2013: I thought I would update my review to note that after using this dish drainer for over eight months, we still love it! Because it drains so well, it stays SO much cleaner than any other dish rack I've owned, requiring very minimal care. (Very occasionally, I remove the rank and spray the inside with a cleaner such as Fantastik, then rinse.) There is absolutely NO evidence of rusting or any other problems. Would purchase again!

We really liked the looks of this rack, and SimpleHuman is a revered brand... but the rack is a mold and mildew factory. There are so many tight nooks and crannies that we have to take this out to the laundry sink and dismantle and scrub it down about once a month. It was relatively expensive for a dish rack, so we've held on to it. However, I'm about ready to cut the cord and go back to a more simple rack with more air spaces and less chance of going gross.

Please, save your money. You'll be kicking yourself, and in for some major (disgusting) annoyance.

Love this dishrack! It looks great on my counter and is worth the price! I never put my crystal wine glasses, cutlery, or large pots and pans in my dishwasher so end up handwashing several items each day.

It is large enough for the large pots and pans that cannot fit into the dishwasher; the wine glass holder keeps the glasses apart from other dishes so they are not knocked over and is tall enough for my long stemmed glasses; the bamboo knife holder keeps knives away from other dishes and the blades from being "nicked". The adjustable legs on the rack fit nicely above the raised rim of my sink and are long enough to allow the water to drain into the sink properly and not pool under the rack like its predecessor. The moveable trays under both the wine glass holder and the glass holders can be pushed under the unit if not in use, and the wine glass holder is removable...Great design!

I have purchased other SimpleHuman products and have been very pleased with the quality and good design of their products. I had a problem with another product, contacted their customer service, and they took care of the problem with a replacement within two days! Nice to know that they stand behind their products and are easy to work with! I will continue to purchase their products.

This thing's a behemoth! My own fault for not measuring my sink. I'm used to buying cheap plastic dishracks, and I've never had any trouble just setting one inside the sink -they've always fit perfectly, and I just assumed this one would, too. Wrong. This rack is enormous, and even if I put it on the counter, it would take up all the available space. I've sent it back. I've given it a good rating because there's no reason the manufacturer should suffer because I didn't measure my sink -but I thought I should mention it in case someone else was about to make the same mistake.

Want simplehuman Steel Frame Dishrack with Wine Glass Holder and Bamboo Knife Block, Grey Discount?

We bought this to replace the same dish rack by SimpleHuman. On the old design, you could remove the bottom tray, turn it around and reinsert it, so the rack could be on the left side of the sink. I purchased this item not realizing a really poor design change had been made, rendering it useless. You can no longer turn the bottom drip tray around, so you are forced to use it on the right side of the sink, unless you want the long end toward the sink. We prefer the long end parallel to the backsplash, and you can no longer do that on the left side of the sink. Returning this one, keeping the old one, and starting my search again.
