This thing DOES sharpen your knife, but the mechanism is different than conventional sharpening. Instead of make an existing edge sharper, it just remove a layer of metal on your blade and create a new edge.

Pros:

Quick sharpening.

Could be use for scissor and jagged blade.

Seem to last forever.

The new blade is very sharp. I cut my own fingers like every time after sharpening. (Not sure it is a pro or con).

Cons:

Non professional. Will destroy your blade eventually so don't use it with your more expensive knives.

The plastic handle feels very cheap.

Cannot be used with non-metal knife.

Bottom line: This stuff is interesting and worth trying. However be very careful when you use it. I recommend washing your blade very carefully after sharpen with this thing to clean the metal dust.

My husband "misplaced" my last Samurai Sharpener while we were moving. I was amazed how much I loved this gadget until it was gone. It gives a sharpened blade that can cut thin paper.
