Out of the Woods of Oregon 17-by-8-Inch Knife Board with Slicer

This knife/cutting board combo is awesome. Not only is it beautiful (red alder with maple and walnut accent), it's amazingly functional!

Knife stashes in the board when not in use, board leans nicely against counter backsplash.

When ready to use, simply pull the knife from the indentation, plop your fresh bread onto the board and slice away. The knife is sharp, long, and simple to use. Thick or thin, all slices look like professional cuts.

When you're finished, dust the crumbs off the board, place the knife in it's holder, and replace it against the backsplash. Looks good and works great!

This board and slicer came up in my search for bread slicing guides, and looked wonderful so I wanted to believe it would be a more solid replacement for our second Norpro slicing guide, which is perfect, but not very durable. It turns out that the stripe in the picture that looks as if it might be a guide, isn't. For those of you who are handy enough to cut straight pieces of bread without help, then this is probably a wonderful set, but in our house we need those guides to go by or the pieces come out all lopsided, so I will need to return this and keep looking. I'm giving it 4 stars as a compromise, although it's probably worth 5 for you talented folks who don't need the guides, and 3 or less for those of us who do.

This cutting board and knife product are really great. The knife is very sharp and allows for very thin cuts. Perfect for breadmaker breads. The storage area for the knife is even better. Love it & thinking abour buying as gifts for my family members that bake their own bread.

This is the perfect slicer for homemade breads. The only slicer that we have found that doesn't crush a warm loaf fresh out of our bread maker.

This is a very good quality board and slicer for the price & the knife cuts well and nicely stored right on the board. I may be being a little bit picky to expect it a little wider or w/grooves to catch some of the crumbs-but that comes w/bread!Highly recommend
