Berndes Mastery Series Magnetic Knife Block

Looks like picture, but does not work well. The block apparently has magnetic strips at exact spots rather than all the way across, so when you try to fit smaller knives on, the spacing that is required is ridiculous looking. Only 1 knife can fit per space, and in between there is no magnetic force at all. I was looking forward to having all my knives fit as it should be long enough to accommodate about 8-10 knives, but only 6 fit due to the required spacing. Very disappointed.

After taking a cooking class, I went home and had a long hard look at my knife block. You know the kind--big and heavy as a bowling ball and able to hold every knife you ever owned. Taking all the knives out and turning it on a side, I was able to see how incredibly filthy it had become over the years. The slots went all the way through, top to bottom, but dust, dirt and even a web were evident. Worse there was no way to clean it. The Berndes Mastery Series Magnetic Knife Block is the best of the offerings to solve the cleanliness issue for your knives in daily use with the food you eat. I highly recommend it, because once you commit to this style, it is simply the best looking. I would have given it five stars except for two things: (1) It is too small to hold a ten inch blade (a very common size for a chef's knife) and (2) Berndes failed to include on the box or in it, a set of directions on how too keep the wood clean, especially should there be an oily kitchen spill.

i like this block. But i didnt get mine from this site. I got it from a discount store in Oregon and only paid $38 for it. it works and looks great in the kitchen

The block is to hold six knives. I found it to hold more. We keep both large and small knives on it. It is so handy to use. A knife is used, cleaned, and placed back on the board. No dirty slots to deal with.
