Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Pro-S 2-Piece Carving Set

As always, the Pro-S series of knives continue to amaze me. Carving a turkey or chicken has never been easier. Slicing meat of any kind is a breeze. Cutting meat feels about like cutting butter -that's how sharp these knives are. Keep away from fingers!!

I assume the set I got is a rare occurrence. The knife was bent at the tip, or it had a burr that wasn't ground off in the manufacturing, it was hard to tell which. The fork's handle was cracked just at the first rivet on one side. The crack appeared to go all the way through so the piece would eventually fall off after the bonding becomes weakened from use. It's a shame because we were adding this to our kitchen which has mostly Henckels Twin Pro-S knives.

I returned it to Amazon and ordered the Wusthof 8" carving set since it has almost exactly the same construction and design. I trust their quality as much as Henckels and recently purchased a Wusthof 9" bread knife. At the level of Twin Pro-S for Henckels and Classic for Wusthof the quality seems to be equally matched. I find the balance of Henckels is more comfortable, the Wusthof being a bit heavier in the front.

The Henckels carving set looked excellent and I was surprised to see that the fork included was the more expensive one rather than the one shown in the picture on Amazon. The one shown here (at the moment) is the 59 dollar fork and the one I received was the 99 dollar one if purchased separately. This carving set is an excellent value and a lifetime investment. Hand wash and keep it in a block or protected some other way, it probably won't get used all that often and needs to be stored safely.

I wish we'd gotten one without the problems although I'm sure we'll be as satisfied with the Wusthof as we would have been with this set. Another note as to why we are changing brands for the carving set is that the fork had slipped out of its cradle in the gift box in shipping. It not only was rubbing against the spine of the knife but it poked out of the packaging in a dangerous manner. It nearly skewered my finger when I pulled it from the shipping carton.

I'm giving it three stars only because I was not satisfied with the condition I received it in. I would have given it five stars if it was in perfect shape and the packaging had held together.

I got this set for a Christmas present for my boyfriend, who is in culinary school and also works as a cook. He is very picky about his knives and will almost only buy Henckels. So far, they've worked great. He was pleased with the fork it came with as well.

I was a little skeptical about the benefits of a carving knife, but wow, this knife is amazing (good weight, good quality). It cut through the turducken like butter. The carving fork was perfect for keeping the stuffing in place while cutting through the birds. I've only used it once, but will definitely find add'l opportunities to use this set.

Cutco Cutlery Cutting Board Brand New

Hate is kind of harsh. I was just expecting a new cutting board like it said.It was old and worn with deep cut marks.

Swissmar Cheese Knife, Soft Cheese, Stainless Steel

What a great buy! If you're not on board with ordering a gazillion knives for different types of cheeses, have no fear. This one will work for almost all of them I've used it on Cheddar, Gouda, Parmesan, Manchego, Brie, all kinds. I purchased a wire-type one at the same time, and it's really not necessary. I would only suggest one more type if you'd like perfect slices on very hard cheeses (mine come out okay, but not *perfect*).

It's nicely balanced, great quality, sharp but not too dangerous, and looks great on a cheese board. If you have modern silverware, it matches up just right. Highly recommended.

The open sides make this knife glide through cheese very easily and cleanly. It is much handier than a wire and fits in a regular knife block. I bought this one for a gift, and though it cost less than the one I use, the stainless handle and blade are very attractive. It has a nice heft and quality feel.

This knife does not work well for slicing cheese. It is sharpened only on one side, so there is a bevel to the blade that forces the knife into or out of the cheese you are slicing, biasing towards one direction. This makes it nearly impossible to get a uniform slice of cheese, and often I get only a few shreds while the knife fights against me. It is of high quality construction and is quite sturdy. It has little teeth on the blade that help it bite into the cheese, but will prevent later re-sharpening. Even after much practice I cannot get it to work to reliably slice uniform slices of cheese.

An okay knife for semi soft and medium cheeses, but crushes soft cheeses and sticks.....Try the cheese knife that Amazon sells that is made of a special resin/plastic..it is amazing, see my review for that one!

Bought as a gift because I love my Cutco cheese knife (Cutco #1764) but was too cheap to fork out the $50 as a present. Thought this one would be similar but it wasn't. It's passable for a cheese knife but the Cutco cheese knife is by far superior I use it several times a week to slice thin even slices off Tillamook cheddar bricks and it works like a dream perfect and easily sliced pieces every time I've never had a cheese slicer or knife that was half as good and I've tried half a dozen or more.

This is a very good knife for the money it keeps an edge well and cuts great it just not the best you can buy I bought it to slice brisket with and it seems to have a hrd time doing that but as for ham and turkey it does great, so if you need a carving knife that won't hurt thr pocketbook this is the knife

Good knife at a good price -thin, flexible blade is nice for trimming/boning meat. Good for slicing veg -longer than a parer, holds its edge pretty well, less sticking than a (wider-bladed) chef's knife. A good buy --bought one for my home kitchen and one for my knife kit.

Purchased as replacement for the SAME that had worn out from use. While the blade itself is of the same quality, there is something off about the handle material. it looks a bit beat up and even with handwashing, it isn't looking so good. However, the knife itself is of great quality and perfect if you like a smooth edge that you can sharpen.

I do a lot of cooking and have to wonder what the fuss over ceramic knives is.

This knife is fine, but one has to treat it gently, since ceramic knives can easily chip or even shatter if dropped, and it's not really any sharper than my stainless steel knives.

The biggest drawback of this one is that they don't provide a sleeve for it, so it has no protection and has to be kept separate from other knives and utensils.

I expected something light that would be hefty enough to get through a cake. Instead this knife is hefty enough for bread.

I've been baking bread in my dutch oven and it gets a nice thick crust. This knife cuts through it easily and has a long stroke to get through my biggest loaves.

I bake my own bread, the machine produces a tasty bread but with uncommon shape which requires a quite long knife to slice.

I expected a typical, Chinese made "supermarket" slicer but it was a pleasant discovery to see it from close.

The blade is made of really thick, inflexible steel, professionally grind serration, with extremely sharp cutting edge.

It reminded me to the old world craftsmanship of bygone centuries.

Highly recommended.

I've always had a serrated bread knife, but it was too short and too lightweight to get through my crustiest breads without undue effort. I would end up squashing the loaf. This knife, with its 14" blade, and proper heft and weight, is like a dream compared to my old one. I do a lot of baking, including many kinds of breads. I'm weak on upper body strength, so some things are always difficult for me. It didn't seem right that slicing bread should be one of those difficulties, so when I saw the 14" one by Fat Daddio, I jumped at it. I'm glad I did. (I have bought other products from Fat Daddio, and have found them all good, so there was no self-debate on whether to buy from them again!) It's length is perfect. One thing I discovered is that I do not use the thin, flexible poly cutting boards with this knife. I use a regular, thick cutting board. The reason is that at an angle for cutting, the tip could possibly gouge into my countertop with the thin ones. It won't happen with a regular board. (Don't get me wrong: I love the thin, flexible poly boards with all my other knives, just not with this one.)

If this one ever breaks or gets lost, I'll definitely buy it again!
