Reed & Barton Provincial Two Drawer 571M Flatware Chest

Reed & Barton Provincial Two Drawer 571M Flatware ChestI was a little worried about this purchase because some reviewers said it was cheaply made and only had one drawer. I received the chest and it had two drawers. It has good construction, although the drawers are a little loose. The wood is nicely stained. The handles are securely fastened. Overall, for the price, it was worth it.

The chest comes with an envelope so you can get a personalized engraved plaque. I am pleased with the purchase.

Bought this for my wife. She loves it. It 's like a piece of fine furniture. Great product, alot of storage.

This is a really well made chest. Better than the picture shows. The wood finish is well done. The size is perfect for the set that I have. The drawers slide very easily. The interior is well covered with the silver felting. And the hardware is elegant and practical. Definitely a great piece! The only think I wish is that it came with short legs. But that is a very miner and I am over all very happy with this piece! Thank you Reed & Barton!

Shun DM0500W 8-Inch Ken Onion Chef's Knife

Shun DM0500W 8-Inch Ken Onion Chef's KnifeI'd had my eye on this knife for a while. The minute it went on sale I bought it. It is now, by far, my favorite knife, so much so that I went back and bought the 6". It fits the hand better than any I've ever used and it cuts well, like butta.

This knife is wonderfully sharp! It really feels great in the hand too. I had always wanted quality knives and finally too the plunge over the Holidays when I was able to purchase these knives as a "lightning deal" and saved alot of money. Even still at full price I would be very happy with them. They make me want to cook more at home to because they are such a delight to use. The only down side I thought was that the end of the blade where it goes into the handle is so wide that it won't fit in most knife blocks. In fact I have regular Shun classics that I also purchased and the Ken Onion series won't fit in that knife block either, not a big deal really I just leave it in the sleeve it came with untill I'm ready to use it. Eventually I will get a magnetic knife holder and stick it to the wall or something.

My wife and I are loyal Shun knife users. That is a disclosure of bias. We were converted to Japanese steel and design via Shun. I had always owned excellent German knives, with their heavier, traditional designs--different--but neither demonstrably better or worse overall than Japanese knives. Clearly both are used by professionals. We simply changed our preference to Shun. My wife has small hands and was less comfortable than I was in terms of the build, weight and balance of our German knives. We both love the simplicity and ease of use of lighter, possibly somewhat sharper, Japanese knives. (That itself is a contentious issue but overgeneralizing is too easy to do). One of her favorites, a combination of Eastern and Western influences, is a Shun DM0707 Classic 10-Inch Chef's Knife. The corresponding traditional German knife is too heavy for her. This is basically about one's personal taste. I do not think it can be otherwise. It might take a trial and error process to find what you like best as it was for us. You probably know what both nations' alternatives offer in their distinct advantages. Sometimes the two traditions are combined like Ken Onions's designs. I will discuss our first Ken Onion designed knife for Shun in this light.

Shun knives are costly but we employ them so frequently and truly enjoy using them that they have proven to be good value--to us. We also see them as tools with a job to do. That can be done better or worse according to each individual. Having preferences, even strong presences is not a problem; just find out what works best for you. We try to judge them in both their handling and in food preparation results.

This 8-inch Ken Onion Chef's knife is a very different design both in the handle and blade--radically different--from Shun's Classic and Premier lines as examples. You pay a premium for the difference in his design. Depending upon the specific technique(s) you are used to or were taught, this knife, and how & where you are used to holding and using it, you will likely have a strong opinion about this one. Slicing and dicing with it can be fast and efficient. That is best if you feel comfortable and know how to efficiently direct your force. What is most fundamental for me is that we might differ about just how comfortable or effective it is to hold this knife but it certainly can function well. It should or at least could, offer most of us the control we want. A professional would do wonders with it although that is not a relevant point. We must match as best as possible our own limited level of technique with an array of very fine knives. Unfortunately, ultimately one needs to actually use it. No doubt there is a suggested technique encouraged for this line of knives but that does not guarantee if it will be personally compatible or preferable for you. The single biggest advantage to me is that left handed users can have equal access to this design compared to choosing either of the two versions, left and right, of specialized "D" handle knives available for their regular lines. If your household has both left and right-handed persons in the kitchen this could be a crucial factor.

Initially it took a while to adapt to the Shuns and so it could simply take more time to adapt in reverse to the Ken Onion design. The differences in the handle should be obvious but if you are new to these knives please note the very thick, and prominent bolster on this knife. Compare that to Shun Classic 10-inch Chef's knife which lacks this feature except where it meets the handle. The blade and especially the heel are quite different from Shun's other knives. In practical terms the Ken Onion bolster offers quite a different feel if you usually like to hold that part of the blade. Of course it will have an effect over time when sharpening and at least for me, not a good one. I do not miss a Western bolster when easily sharpening Shun knives at the heel. Of course a prominent bolster like this is clearly a Western convention that you may already use daily. But in the meantime, I prefer the Shun style of knives that I have grown accustomed to already. Since I disclosed from the start that I already chose to leave my German style knives I prefer classic Shun Japanese knives' weight, straight handle and blade. Conversely, if you love German knives but want to try Shun steel, here you have it. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with Ken Onion's design and indeed, he has purposely redesigned his line as a Westerner using this fine steel. The right thing to do would be to report back later if this largely subjective evaluation changes. It is a reasonably well balanced knife with the sharpness I know and appreciate, with the same hard clad steel, just rendered in a different shape with new emphases for Shun. The sculptured forms of wood and metal are relatively thicker and/or more undulating. They combine in delivering something new in appearance and relatively unfamiliar.

Ken Onion knife is yet another example of a variation of Western design using Japanese materials. There is obviously a market. To some this design might offer the best of both traditions. Certainly others have experimented with exactly that both in Japan and Europe many times before with which you can compare. So far, I can mainly appreciate its potential but I do not deny its quality. I deducted one star for my individual, hands on experience.

Kiwi Pro Slice Peeler

Kiwi Pro Slice PeelerI have had one for a few years now and I use it for all sorts of things: shredding carrots and cucumbers for sushi rolls or spring rolls; shredding veggies for garnishes or to add to salads; and shredding summer squashes to use as vegetable "noodles in soups or to top with sauces. i have even used it to make shoestring potatoes to fry into potato "nests". Easy to use, easy to clean, the handle may be plastic but it is a very sturdy plastic and handles the dishwasher just fine. Just added this to my wish list since one of the kids has misplaced mine and I am feeling the loss almost daily in my kitchen!

Unbeatable little tool for making shredded green papaya salad. I use it to shred many different not-so-ripe fruits and veggies besides papaya. Better than the typical cheese grater for shredding because it doesn't bruise the fruit/veggie. I highly recommend this tool.

I love making Som Tum, but got tired of hacking a papaya with a chef's knife. Can't use a cheese grater b/c it makes the papaya too limp. This is the best and least expensive way to cut perfectly sliced papaya.

Stanton Trading 12 by 18 by 1/2-Inch Cutting Board, Red

Stanton Trading 12 by 18 by 1/2-Inch Cutting Board, RedI bought similar cutting boards several years ago and, while they're not the best in the world, they're serviceable. It was time to replace them, so I ordered six more. Unfortunately, the entire set of cutting boards have warped within 2 months of purchase. Now they spin when I cut something on them, which isn't safe.

I won't purchase these again and would strongly recommend that you don't buy them, either.

This is a great cutting board with a good thickness that I am sure will help to maintain the integrity of my knife blades. I ended up getting this one and the green one here: Stanton Trading 12 by 18 by 1/2-Inch Cutting Board, Green. I will use the red one for meats and the green one for veggies. I do a lot of cooking and have gone through many cutting boards in my time working as a professional cook for over 15 years, so I know a good quality board when I see one. I love the simplicity, with no useless handle cutout, raised sides or bumper edges, all which just get in the way of cutting and sliding food off a board. The medium size of the 12 by 18 works well for just about any task you will encounter in the kitchen and fits nicely on most any size counter top. Also this is the perfect size for picking up and transferring food from board to pot. It has just enough grip on its surface to not slide around, even when wet, yet is slick enough to easily slide food off of. This board is absolutely perfect for any home or professional restaurant; I would not change a thing. In fact, I plan on buying many more of these, just to make sure I can stock up on them in case they ever run out or discontinue these models, because it really is hard to find such an all around performer in a cutting board that will truly fit my high standards of kitchen ware.

Buy Stanton Trading 12 by 18 by 1/2-Inch Cutting Board, Red Now

I bought 3 different cutting boards, by different manufacturers and this one spins like a top. It spins because they it is not completely flat. To keep it from spinning I put a folded kitchen towel under the center of the board.

It should sit flat and there is no reason for it not to since it is a molded product, this is a sign of inferior production. I won't buying from this company again.

I absolutely love this cutting board! I've only had it for a couple weeks, but so far it has been great. It is heavy, but I like that because it doesn't move on the counter while I'm chopping on it. It just fits into the dishwasher, which is great. I didn't realize when I bought it that the surface is textured, but that is not a problem at all. On the contrary, it makes food slide off of it easily when I want to transfer the food to my pan etc. It feels very durable and I have high hopes that it will last me a long time!

The Kuhn Rikon Nonstick Paring Knife is a very good value for a quality knife. We own several of these knives in different colors for use at home and in our shop. The different colors allow us keep the ones we use to cut materials in our workshop from accidently being used for food products.

The blade is *VERY* sharp and holds it's edge very nicely. The nonstick coating on the blade is a real plus as it helps to keep the knife clean as well as to keep it moving through thicker items. The snug fitting platic sheath is a welcome addition to safely store or transport the knife.

My only complaint is the light feel of the plastic handle. It isn't flimsy exactly, just lacks heft. This might just be a personal prefference issue and it hasn't stopped me from buying more of them.

Overall this is a very good paring knife at a reasonable price. Recommended!

Several beautiful colors that really "pop" Highly recommended as a gift too.

OXO Good Grips Mango Splitter

OXO Good Grips Mango SplitterAlways avoided buying Mangos because of the hassle cutting them. Noticed this tool on Amazon and decided to give it a try (although I did not expect it to work). The design is quite ingenious. The cutting blade is flexible enough to "hug" the pit and cut the fruit away. I would highly recommend.

I agree with the earlier poster that this device allows you to make mango salsa much faster. Yes there is still a little cutting to get meat off the seed, but most of the work is done instantly and painlessly.

Pros:

Makes seeding a mango almost instant

Cons:

I don't know what I'll do when this device eventually dulls (sharpening it will be difficult)

It doesn't handle the largest sizes of mangoes

Buy OXO Good Grips Mango Splitter Now

This little invention I just bought cuts out a lot of mango and a lot of BS. I pay about $1.50 per mango, so losing flesh in cutting the things up is like a punch in the throat. Mangoes are well connected to their skin and seed, making it hard not to waste or at least end up with a million little hacked off pieces and cut up hands.

I didn't give it 5 stars simply because there is still a small bit of waste, but given the stubborn nature of the mango, that's inevitable. Someday someone will breed a mango that just pops away from the seed like a peach.

There's a slight learning curve on the tool, but I got it on my first try. I doesn't look like it should work but it does. Amazing and rewarding the first time you use it and have two robust shoulders taken off the seed.

Read Best Reviews of OXO Good Grips Mango Splitter Here

The problem with mangos is that the pit is well-secured inside the fruit by a pit with long, tough fibers attached. The pit is an inconvenient flat oblong, slippery under the knife. However, if you admire the "peach soaked in turpentine" exotic taste (and I certainly do) you might wonder if there isn't some way to cut out the flesh of the mango without a long, hard struggle.

This device is positioned over the mango like an apple corer, allowing you to cut the fibers around the pit and release it from (most) of the meat. While there is still some waste, and while mangos and their pits vary in size, this is pretty good.

It certainly beats my current method of mango preparation, which is to slice along side of the pit, making two shallow halves. I dice the fruit inside the hull and slice it off that tough skin with a knife positioned flat along the skin. I get cubes of mango, and then I either try to trim the pit or I nibble it as a cook's tidbit.

This cutter is faster by far than my old method and a lot neater. Big thumbs up to OXO for figuring this out.

Want OXO Good Grips Mango Splitter Discount?

I was so excited after the first time I used this tool. I was amazed at how easily I was able to split my way through a mango. With moderate pressure, this tool whizzed right through the mango without a problem and I ended up with two perfectly sliced halves. As I am a mango fanatic, it was love at first sight with this tool.

The honeymoon was short-lived, however. After a handful of uses, I noticed I was having problems with my mango splitter. What once sailed through the mango was now giving me problems right from the get go. Just piercing through the top of the mango was work enough, and with the added pressure now required, my mangoes were quickly becoming mangled, mutilated messes, and my cutting board and counter tops would be drenched in mango juice. What's worse I could only get the implement about half way through the mango, but no more, and then I had a bear of a time retrieving the splitter from the fruit at all. At first I thought maybe I was using it on too ripe mangoes, and because I didn't want to give up on my beloved mango splitter, I gave it several more tries with mangoes of varying ripeness. Unfortunately, I killed at least a half a dozen mangoes in the process.

Bottom line...this implement works wonderfully from the start, but the blades quickly dull leaving you with a useless apparatus. I have 2 other friends that have had the exact same experience as me with the Oxo Mango Splitter, so I highly doubt it was only mine that had this problem. I have since returned to using my chef's nice to get at my mangoes. It's a bit of a pain, but at least no mangoes have to be killed in the process. Sorry, OXO, but you need to go back to the drawing board with this one.

Chicago Cutlery MagnaSharp Mouse Knife Sharpener

Chicago Cutlery MagnaSharp Mouse Knife SharpenerI bought one of these locally about a year ago and have been very pleased with it. The body is made of durable plastic so if you happen to drop it there's not much chance it will break. I really like that it has a magnet on the back allowing me to keep it on the side of the fridge right next to the knife block!

The ceramic rods in this sharpener put a dependably keen edge on my knives with just 4-6 strokes. I use mine all the time and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

i do not currently own this one, though i like the magnet idea. what most people who get these and have problems do not relise is that you DO have to hold the knife correctly AND you must apply the correct pressure.those of us who know the OLD way or just cook alot know this applys to iron sharpning.

if you own an electric sharpner you simply pull or stick it in(acording to the make) and the machen dose the rest. with this type of sharpner you MUST hold the knife straight up and push as if you were cuting a tomato(enouph to cut but not crush)and pull it through.depending on how dull your blade is and how hard the edge is will depend on how many pulls this requires.DO NOT OVER SHARPEN YOUR BLADE!this will make the edge too thin and little bits will break off and ragged edges to apper in your knife, that will make it harder to get a good clean cut. hope this is helpful.

i don't understand why some reviewers say it doesn't sharpen. i got this littler sucker with my chicago cutlery insignia set and it sharpens great, just 3-5 strokes every few uses, just like one of the other positive reviewers said. afterwards, i can slice tomatos just millimeters thick with ease and virtually no pressure. it's not a professional-caliber sharpener and i don't know how well it works on non-chicago cutlery blades that might have a different pitch or angle, but for 8 bucks, it works great.

I like it because it stays on the fridge and is easy to find when I need it. It sharpens my santuko knife alright but sometimes I wish I'd bought a different type because I cannot sharpen my kitchen shears with it, they're too thick to fit in the slot.

Seems to do a better job with some knives than others. It is easy to hold with elderly hands (smile). I recommend it for ease of use and comfortable to handle.

Rada Cutlery Regular Vegetable Peeler, Made in USA (Pack of 2)

Rada Cutlery Regular Vegetable Peeler, Made in USA, Aluminum HandleMy opinion, because I personally prefer the larger Deluxe size and I use a dishwasher: Three stars for the regular size aluminum version; down one for aluminum handle and one for regular size. Four stars for black handle, regular size. I rate the black handled Deluxe version as five stars. In spite of variable star rating, for various Rada peelers, the unobstructed high quality blade is superb. Read on.

The Amazon descriptions for the great (see other reviews) Rada vegetable peelers sometimes lack key information which, from the radacutlery dot com site, products page, is as follows. Pay attention to the model numbers; assume a smaller size if model number is not listed.

There are TWO peelers:

The Vegetable Peeler (Item #: R132 / W232) is blade 1 3/4", overall 7 1/4".

The Deluxe Vegetable Peeler (Item #: R141 / W241) is blade 2", overall 8 3/8". Note longer blade & handle.

There are TWO handles, one aluminum and one black dishwasher safe. This explains some of the differences in price between listings and some reviewer comments. In reviews, pay attention to the "This review is from:" line, because Amazon groups reviews, not making distinctions between aluminum handle and black handle reviews.

To make comparisons of all the peelers, search within Amazon for, simply, Rada Peeler. That gives you the aluminum peelers with the option to click on black handled version. But, if you click on black handle option you cannot review the item. If, however, you search "Rada peeler black" you can then review the black handled version. I now have only black handled Radas.

If you have a dishwasher AND plan on cleaning your peeler in it, I'd stay away from the nice looking but impractical aluminum handle models, because aluminum reacts with dishwasher detergents, causing it to turn color and over time to look horrible (my opinion) compared to an original finish. If you hand wash the aluminum handled peeler (or knives), no problem. Other reviewers have mentioned the color change. My comments on aluminum and dishwashers is not based on the Rada product specifically; they are based on long, long experience with many different aluminum products in dishwashers.

I wish Rada would make an all stainless handle, but the black dishwasher safe handle models are quite fine. Buy two, one to give to a relative or friend; you'll like it enough to share it.

If you are considering getting some (highly rated) Rada knives, be sure to go to the products page of the company website to get the blade size dimensions which are not given for many knives listed via Amazon, yet which is key info for online purchasing, so you can compare to your knives currently in counter-top holders or your drawers. Buy black dishwasher safe handles!

This is the very best vegetable peeler I've ever used, in four decades of cooking. It was given to me as a gift 10 years ago from a friend in the food-service industry, and it is still as sharp and effective as when it was new (I DON'T wash it in the dishwasher.) In fact, I so fell in love with this peeler, that when I replaced my old knives two years ago, I replaced them with Rada steak and preparation knives. They keep an edge like no other (JA Henckels doesn't compare), and when they do get dull, they sharpen up with just a few quick strokes. And they're WAY less expensive than their better-known competitors. And they're made in the USA.

I bought these to give as gifts after some friends came to my house to help with a large-quantity cooking event for our church, and was shocked at how easy to use, how well-balanced, and how SHARP this peeler is.

Sanelli 302632 Premana Professional 12.5 Inch Bread Knife

Sanelli 302632 Premana Professional 12.5 Inch Bread KnifeI first became interested in finding out what was the green knife that Mario Batali had on ICA. Turns out to be a Sanelli legging type knife. I have lots of knives German and Japanese, stamped and forged, but I was looking for a long bread knife. Lets face it size matters when you want to slice your own bread, particularly my favorite 3 cheese miche from Panera. You really need a long blade to get the proper sawing action with control to cut the bread.

The Sanelli 12.5 in blade is just the knife I was looking for. It has a long serrated blade, a very comfortable non-slip grip, similar, but possibly better than the Victorinox fibrox grip. I find that feature very important after I bought my Henckels five star knives which become very slippery if wet or dealing with something with fat like chicken. I bought the Henckels because the grip was comfortable, but I didn't foresee that the smoothness of the handle would be so slippery. While I haven't smeared chicken fat over the Sanelli, you can tell that grip is pretty secure.

I find with this knife its sure-handedness lets me make thin cuts on my loaves to as small as 1/4-3/8" without a loss of control. Hey it's one way to cut down on calories when you have a large loaf! LOL I do like the green and red handle, a bit flashy next to my other black-handled knives, but I know where to go right away to find my slicer. Plus if your kitchen table is cluttered most of the time as mine is, you can see where the knife is before getting nicked on the blade (ok, I know it should be left in the block, but I use it all the time. LOL)

Sure, its a stamped blade, but who really cares on a serrated knife anyway? When the time comes that it is dull, just get a new one! they are inexpensive enough. I don't expect that for some time since the blade is very sharp now. Frankly, after spending thousands of dollars over the years on Henckels and such, I find them not as serviceable as the Victorinox, or now this Sanelli. You are more often going to find a professional working with a more practical knife like these, rather than trophy case knives that are $100+

Props to unbeatablesale dot com for the quick delivery and the $15 coupon for leaving them feedback. So if you buy this knife be sure to leave feedback for the vendor its worth it! Maybe I'll get another one for leaving this too! LOL

Global GF-36 - 8 inch, 20cm Heavyweight Vegetable Knife

Global GF-36 - 8 inch, 20cm Heavyweight Vegetable KnifeThe first time I used this knife, I knew from that second that this would be one of the most treasured items in my kitchen. I LOVE it. I have Henckels & Wusthof knives, but this knife is by far the best. When I prepare a meal, my favorite part is when I get to use my knife. I cannot possibly express to you how truly wonderful this knife really is. Buy it! Buy it! BUY IT! You won't be sorry (except when you aren't paying attention and cut yourself)! I only wish I had the money to purchase a whole set; I will one day...

Update: I also purchased the "Global 10-Inch Diamond Sharpening Steel" and WOW it's amazing. If your knife is a little on the dull side, run it over the sharpener a few times, and BAM! It's as sharp as it was when you bought it. Simply amazing.

I own 30+ kitchen knives in many different shapes and sizes from a dozen different manufacturers and this is by far my favorite knife. I don't know how it does it, but this knife slices so effortlessly through vegetables, fruits, and meat it's almost unbelievable. Worth every penny.

This knife is quite a bit lighter than you would expect anything with the word "heavyweight" in its name to be, but it's plenty strong, quite sizable and feels good in the hand. I still think a cheap, heavy cleaver is the ideal tool for melons, squash and sweet potatoes, but this is definitely an excellent chopper that will make short work of any conventional fruit or vegetable. It takes an edge suitable for paper thin slices as well, but it's not hollow ground or fluted, so they'll cling like crazy. I can imagine its relative straightness would make it an ideal candidate for performing that fancy daikon unrolling trick in the hands of someone much more skilled than I, however.

It's also worth mentioning that this knife will easily travel through over half of a large onion with little more than a flick of the wrist, so keep those fingers tucked under, and invest in some safety-toed boots.

This forged Global Vegetable knife may have you forgetting your chefs' knives. It is incredibly versatile, well balanced, though hefty. It can navigate large vegetables with ease. Perhaps the best of both the German and Japanese knife worlds

as all global products this one too is amazing. Well balanced and razor sharp out of the box. It does it's job well everytime. I use it for slicing chopping and dicing vegetables. If you buy yourself a honing rod and use it this knife will only need sharpened on rare occasions for the home cook. I use mine everyday and hone it everyday and only sharpened it once in 8 months of use.

Mundial BP666 Red Dot 8 1/2" Take-A-Part Kitchen/Utility Shears

Mundial BP666 Red Dot 8 1/2' Take-A-Part Kitchen/Utility ShearsI received these shears as a gift about 3 years ago and they are constantly in use! When I roast a chicken, I use them to cut the wings and drumsticks off, and they come in very handy when you need to open any paper packets or even when you need to slice up some parsley or chives...I love them so much that I am buying two more for relatives. Note about the washing I never wash mine by hand (unless I need them right away for another dish) they normally go right into the dishwasher.

I bought these shears as a gift for my mother. She really liked them. In a recent move, they were lost and my parents wrote me to try to find out how to replace them. I went through my order history on Amazon.com, found the original order, and reordered another pair of shears. My parents are happy again! And I earn points as a good daughter! All for finding a good product on Amazon.com twice.

Shipped an item back to them in first week of December, finally had to call them today Jan. 22, to find out if they were going to replace or what was going on, was told that the rust on the bolt was not covered, and if I want my item back, I have to pay them to ship it back. They would need a check in advance to return the item. Consider yourself warned>

Absolutely would not be without these shears in my kitchen. I use them from cutting paper, opening cereal bags to cutting up chicken, beef, and even pizza.

I find these indispensable. The first pair was starting to get worn and dull and I didn't even consider purchasing another brand. All my kitchen knives are Mundial and I've never had a problem with anything.

Norpro KLEVE 8 Inch Chef's Knife

Norpro KLEVE 8 Inch Chef's KnifeA little lighter than expected but still a good knife for the money. Kepps a good edge and feels good in the hand when cutting. Good mate for my Norpro cleaver

Nothing to complain about. It's as expected, does what it's supposed to do. I have nothing more to say about it.

Overall I am happy with the heft and feel of this knife and I much prefer it to Kleve 7" Santoku. This knife "rocks" easily (like you're supposed to when you chop), whereas the santoku, at least the Kleve version, doesn't rock as well.

It's pretty heavy and thick and while it's sharp, it's not as sharp as some others knives I've tried. I can't really afford a good knife, but just for kicks I went and tried a Shun damascus steel chef knife and also an expensive german knife. They were thinner, but cut easier.

Anyway, I know that this knife's steel is nothing special and can't be expected to perform as well as VG-10 core with damascus cladding, but I think I'd go back and save my money for a Slitbar knife from IKEA (they have a $50 Damascus steel 8" chef model). For $12 I'd be happier and would give 4 stars (everything is relative to price).

One thing I don't like: the full bolster it will eventually get in the way of sharpening and serves no purpose. A bolster is nice, but the Santoku version has a partial bolster that would be the way to do it.

I have most of the Kleve knives and overall for the prices I paid I like them, they are well balanced and feel and look nice. Fairly sharp and hold edge ok.
