Norpro Grip-EZ Cutting Board Scoop
I must not have read the product description close enough. The name of the item is "Grip-EZ" and the Product Features state: NONSLIP, soft grip handle and has raised sides. From all of this, I interpreted that the cutting board would "grip/be non-slip" on the work surface. It DOES NOT. To prevent the cutting board from slipping while you are cutting/chopping, you would need to place your own "non-slip" surface underneath. Very disappointing. The "non-slip" feature does apply to the black handle portion of the cutting board. I would much rather have had the non-slip on the underside.
It's a little smaller than I had imagined. The "scoop" shape is a nice feature so that juices won't run off, etc. I'll keep it only for the scoop shape and the ability to easily transfer the chopped items into the cooking pot.
J.A. Henckels International Fine Edge Pro 13-Piece Knife Set with Block
After using a friends set of Henckels, I thought I'd grab a set for myself. What I've discovered in my research is Henckels now makes some cheaper quality and cheaper priced knives as well as their high quality stuff. Fortunately, they have an easy way to identify which is which. The higher quality knives have the original "Twins" logo (looks like two little stick figures side by side) where the cheaper sets have just a single little stick figure man. They still make some very nice sets, this particular one isn't one of them. Just look for the twins and you'll get a much nicer set.The short story:Pay a little more money and buy Wusthof cutlery,
and get a lot more bang for the buck.
The long story:
J. A. Henckles make different lines of cutlery. Their
"International" line is lower quality and less expensive
than their top lines "Pro S" and "Five Star."
(The only difference between the "Pro S" and "Five Star"
is the handle. The "Pro S" has a full-tang riveted handle,
and the "Five Star" has a bigger, synthetic handle. Some
people claim the full-tang riveted handles have better
balance.)
Though, Henckels name is more well known than Wusthof
and they sell more knives to the general public, people
who have used the two brands, for the most part, agree
that Wusthof is the better knife. Also, Wusthof seems
to employ much better quality control than Henckels.
Henckels cuts corners when it comes to their sets.
Henckels supplies a relatively small, low grade
sharpening steel with their top line "Pro S" and
"Five Star" sets.
In their top line 18 piece sets, their steak
knives come from a lower line.
Henckels has a recommended retail price and a sale
price on their cutlery. Just about all vendors,
sell Henckels knives at the "sale" price. Henckels'
warranty department will only give you credit for
the sale price of their product, even if you pay
more, and have a receipt to prove it.
On the other, hand, Henckels warranty department is
generous when it comes to replacing old Henckels knives
damaged due to consumer misuse. I thought knives
completely submerged in salt-free water would
not corrode. I thought corrosion needed salt or
air. Wrong. My Henckels knives corroded even
though I just left them submerged in soapy water.
The most popular knife today is the Wusthof
Grand Prix, Santaku knife with a granton
edge. This is the knife used by Rachel Ray
and other chefs on the Food Network. "Granton"
means the knife has semi hollowed-out ovals on
its sides. Granton edges may provide a smoother
cut, with less drag. Vegetables may stick to
their sides less. But knives with granton
edges are not supposed to be sharpened at home.
Moreover, they have very little edge to sharpen
and so have much less life expectancy than an
Identical knife without a granton edge.

I have owned these knives for two weeks and they were everything they said they would be. I found them to be well balanced between blade and handle and the seraded edge on the steak knives made for easy slicing. Although not their most expensive set, I don't think the average user could tell the difference.Want J.A. Henckels International Fine Edge Pro 13-Piece Knife Set with Block Discount?
I've owned this set for over a year now with no real complaints. The knives have performed beyond my expectations. They keep an edge despite daily use and abuse. If I could improve anything at all about the set it would be the steak knives. These are thinner than the rest of the knives but are more than adequate to the task.
Trillium Plus 20-pc. Flatware Set Plus 4 Bonus Steak Knives
Yamazaki Median 5-Piece Place Setting
I am a pretty big guy and like Euro style continental sized flatware, but these are for giants. It's not just length but the overall heft and width. Way too big. The knife's handle is hollow and super thick. There is no way it would not fall off the plate if carried on it.Surprisingly poorly finished unlike other Yamazaki sets I have seen. Quality control lacking, my set came with two dinner forks, instead of one dinner and salad forks.

Rada Cutlery Serving Spatula, Aluminum Handle, Made in USA (Pack of 2 - R114/2)
I recently switched all my utensils and things in my kitchen to products that were made in the USA. I found Rada cutlery after doing a search on Amazon for kitchen utensils made in the USA. These are great quality, and I am very pleased that I made the purchase. All my cooking utensils are now Rada cutlery and I ditched all the Kitchen Aid ones.Christmas 2011 ABC TV challenged us to spend $60 on American made articles. If every American spent this much we could turn our economy around. I wasn't looking for spatulas only found these when I searched "made in America". I love these. They are small and efficient. Unlike their plastic counterparts they take up little storage space. I had purchased a set of steak knives and small knives in a specialty shop in Gatlinburg Tennessee years ago. If there were instructions to not put in the dishwasher I did not pay any attention hence the handles darkened. This did not effect the quality or performance of the cutlery. To hit the $60 dollar amount I purchased several other items made by Rada . After a year and 2 months usage and hand washing they are just like the day I opened the box. I am pleased.Buy Rada Cutlery Serving Spatula, Aluminum Handle, Made in USA (Pack of 2 - R114/2) Now

Amco Classic Spreaders, Stainless Steel Blades, Set of 4
I ordered these from Amazon just before Thanksgiving because I needed to take some hors' d'oeuvres to Thanksgiving dinner. I had some various high-end cheese spreads. Thanksgiving this year was going to be a little bit formal and I realized that I didn't have any little spreaders. I went to Amazon, looked up spreader and found these. I ordered it and it got here quickly. These worked out great and they are nice looking. I recommend them. Good price, too! These are the best little butter knives I could find on the internet or at any retail store and the price was fantastic. They are not quite as decorative as I had originally hoped to find, but they look nice and have a good weight to them. At first I was just looking for a few decorative knives to put out with the butter dishes at our large family holiday meals. Then I found these cute little knives, and marked down to boot! I bought 4 packages (4 per package) and now I'll just put one out with each place setting.Buy Amco Classic Spreaders, Stainless Steel Blades, Set of 4 Now
These spreaders are made of two partsthe handle and the spreader. These spreaders are not knives for cutting with and are not supposed to be large. As spreaders, they are the correct size. They are stylish and are made from good quality materials. I especially like the seamless, one-piece construction (no separately attached handles with the potential to eventually loosen and/or fall off as I've experienced). These spreaders wash and polish well, looking especially nice placed next to my large glass covered cheese tray. These spreaders are nice enough to use for any occasion. I shopped around before buying and would purchase these again.Victorinox Knife Roll for 8 Knives, Black
Wusthof Silverpoint II 3-Piece Santoku Prep Set Black
For the good. the santoku knife is a nice stamped blade. It is thinner than a chef's knife and better for more delicate cutting. Everyone should have a chef's knife, along with a pairing knife, and the santoku is a good number 3. The cutting board is really great, but there are some improvements that can be made. The pairing knife feels like it is made of tinfoil. I don't know how long it will last but it is good to have a spare one of those. I would recommend as a design improvement a more grippy handle, it kind of feels like it will slip out of my hand at the worst possible time.
Chef's Choice 500 ScissorPro Professional Diamond Hone Scissor Sharpener
All those dull old scissors I collected over the years, as they gradually lost their edge, are now SHARP. I stumbled across this product while looking for a knife sharpener. Since I was about to buy yet another pair of scissors, I decided to try it. It really put a good edge on all my shears (except pinking, nail and hair which it does not sharpen). You have to be somewhat careful holding the blade at the correct angle, as there is a bit of wiggle room under the guide. One practice run with a cheap pair of scissors should suffice, however, and it is wonderful to have really sharp scissors again. Lots of them!Heavy little machine, this is good. The text mentions it sharpens knifes **(WRONG)** It only sharpens sissors. Ran about 10 pairs thru it and amazing even some pairs the kids used to cut wire with were honed clean of chips in the blade and were razor sharp after. Beware if you have knife edge sissors they include an attachment to do them make sure you use it. Very satisfied with the sharpner. Just wish it did knives too.Buy Chef's Choice 500 ScissorPro Professional Diamond Hone Scissor Sharpener Now
After reading the reviews on this product, I had it on my list of 'things I really would like to have someday' for quite a while. I have tons of different types of scissors, everything from kitchen shears, sewing scissors, craft scissors for all types of crafts and crochet projects, and detail scissors for scrapbooking and card making... along with lots of childrens scissors for the grandkids to use. Seemed like everytime I picked up a pair, they were dull, and I was constantly having to buy new pairs, tossing the old ones in a box...with the thought that someday I would figure out how the heck to sharpen those in a reasonable way. Well, 'someday' arrived. I saved my money up, to finally purchase the Chef's Choice 500 ScissorPro. I read the instructions, hauled out my box of scissors, washed the goo and glu off them first, and proceeded to give it a try, starting with my least fav pair first to practice on (a pair that had a small knick in one blade). I used a papertowel to try a test cut before sharpening. It not only wouldn't cut the towel, it bent it rather than cut, lol. Then after sharpening the pair... voilaaaa...it cut like a charm...cleanly and consistently with each snip (though on this pair, I did run it through several times to even out the knick in the blade)! AMAZING!! So I moved onto the next pair, and the next. Time after time, doing test cuts before and after, on the paper towel, with each pair. AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING... did I say AMAZING?! It worked so well, on literally every pair I sharpened, that I took it over to our kid's houses, had them haul out all their pairs, and sharpened theirs for them too. Now they're saving up for one, as they would like their own. I thought the price was a bit high, but considering how much I've spent over the years on scissors (and gas to have to go out shopping for more), I feel it's worth the money. I only wish I would have had this product years ago, before spending so much on scissors over the years. We also have the knife sharpener (a separate product... this scissor sharpener can't be used for knives)... but the knife sharpener works very well too. Now if they can just invent a product like this for pinking shears and decorative edge scissors.... and toenail clippers.... (lol) Oh yes, almost forgot, the product arrived in a very timely manner, as well. I purchased this sharpener because the Chef's Choice knife sharpener is wonderful. The scissors sharpener is not so wonderful. It is capable of one angle on the coarse side and two angles on the fine side. If you have scissors with the angle it was made for then it's great. If you have scissors with the "knife edge" angle, there is an adapter for the fine side only. Therefore, if you cut a pin, you can't use the coarse side. If you have different scissors yet, if will completely ruin them. It is quite helpful to take the scissors apart to fit them into the machine.Rösle Cheese Knife Set, Silver

Architec Gripperwood Hardwood Cutting Board, 8 by 11-Inch
I felt I took a chance buying this board with no picture and no reviews to tell me if it was good, or if it was what I wanted. Well, I was pleasantly surprised, it was exactly what I wanted. It has non-slip gripper pads on each corner to keep it up off the counter, and to keep it securely in place. It has a very large cutting area (almost too big for my counter space), even with the grooves around the edges to capture juices. It is very sturdy and made of a nice quality wood. Overall a very nice and inexpensive board.ORIGINAL 2/17/09: I purchased this cutting board almost two years ago and have loved having such a large work surface, and I prefer wood boards over plastic so I was glad to find this size at such a good price. At first I loved the feet kept the board in place, even with rigorous chopping. However, right now, the middle sags to the point that the board rocks when sat on the counter. Could it be from overexposure to water, like when my husband thought it should soak like our pots and pans do? Sure. It could also just be a flaw of the design, with a heavy wood board not properly supported in the center. Hard to say. Either way, I will probably not buy any cutting board with feet again. If you are solely looking for a cutting board that will not move around on your counter, just buy a roll of grippy (but not adhesive) shelf liner and cut a swatch to slip between your non-footed cutting board and your counter it keeps the board in place, and you can fold it up and shove it in your drawer when you're done using your board.EDIT 2/22/13: I bumped up my review to 5 stars from my original review of 3. I have continued using this cutting board for the past 3 years. I do not notice the rocking anymore, but it was stored for about 9-10 months without any use shortly after my original review. Not sure if it flattened back out during that time seems ridiculous to think that, but the board really does seem flatter than it used to. Anyway, I have been treating it with mineral oil every few months and it is holding up very well, even with near daily use.
I love the size, and love the fact that it is easy enough (size and weight) to store in my cabinet when not using it (I had purchased a 2" thick, very heavy 20x24 cutting board to replace this one, but didn't like leaving it out and it didn't fit in my cabinet). Overall I am very pleased with the Architec board and I would recommend it to others. Just don't soak it in water and you should be fine!

The cutting board is raised from the surface by the rubber grippers. The one I got was broken within a day. Not sure if it arrived that way or if maybe it broke after we used it once. Friedr Dick Paring Knife 3 1/2 inch, Forged
Great knife haven't have it long, but will buy more of this brand of knife again.Ten years ago I bought my first set of knives. I didn't have a lot of money at the time, so I couldn't really afford Wusthof or Henckels, but I stumbled upon a little known (and sadly now defunct) website called "A Cook's Wares" that recommended F.Dick knives as an affordable option of equal or greater quality to the big names. I also liked knowing that "F Dick cutlery is used by 9 out 10 culinary schools worldwide". My F.Dick chef's knife, bread knife, carving knife, tomato knife, and paring knife have served me well over the years, but on occasion, my partner and I want the same knife at the same time. I can see a day where we need two chef's knives, but she felt a second paring knife would be the better option (and we only have one remaining space for a single smaller knife in our knife block).Apparently things have changed in the last ten years. My knives were part of F.Dick's "Premier" series, but it seemed they were no longer offering that line, calling it now "Premier Plus". The product photos online aren't great (I plan to upload some higher resolution versions) but it looked like there might be some slight cosmetic differences between the two. The only way I could see for sure was to order one. For anyone who happens to be in my boat (which I assume is an infinitesimally small population), here are the chief differences between the two, having mostly to do with the handle:
* the edges of the Premier Plus handle are rounded, compared to well-defined edges on the Premier
* the black handle material of the Premier Plus has a more brushed, salty black appearance---I wonder if this will get darker/smoother with age/use
* the top side (spine) of the Premier Plus handle has a slight curve, while the Premier is completely straight
* the butt of the Premier Plus handle is a different shape, flatter, not cute and round like the Premier
The knife blade and the bolster look to be almost identical, with the exception of the tang now having a curved profile to match the curved top edge of the handle. I'll admit I like consistency, and sometimes wish perfectly good things wouldn't change. The old Premier's straight handle and defined edges look more professional to my eyes. That said, I'm sure when we start using the new paring knife, we'll find the rounded edges and curved back more comfortable in the hand. Time will tell.
One last thing. I wanted to mention that the ugly little red diamond logo you see in the product photos---that's just a sticker. It peels right off.

J.A. Henckels Twin Pure Silicone Spatula
Henckels Silicone utensils are excellent quality. They are flexable enough to get around and into corners of cookware, dishes, handle medium heat with no problem. The blade still has enough body and finesse to spread icing. I cook, stir, turn food and just about do what needs to be done while cooking with this spatula. The weight and feel lets you know its top notch. (I hand wash all my Henckels utensils, take care of them and they will be with you for a long time)I've tried many spatulas, and this is by far the best product on the market. The key feature that sets Henckels' spatula apart is that it is made entirely of metal and silicone, unlike other products that use plastic or rubber for part of the handle absolutely every part of this product is heat-resistant.Buy J.A. All other spatulas have come apart on me and makes me sick to think about pieces that may have ended up in the food. This one is holding up very well with no signs of melting or coming apart. Someone mentioned how they think it not good for pancakes, I make pancakes every sunday. I could see what he was saying but if you push down when using it is not a problem, it does not slide easily under pancakes like other cheaper spatulas, but it does work extremely well. You just have to get use to it.I am cheap, thrifty whatever wanna call it so to pay this much for a spatula previously I would spend a dollar on was a big deal. I am so glad I did.
I cook allot and makes me feel so much better knowing my family wont be eating any parts or pieces of my spatula makes it worth every penny.

I really like this spatula. My favorite part is that the handle is very solid and has a good weight to it. Not *too* heavy, but substantial and better than a wood or plastic handle. It's not a cheap product, but I'm certain that I'll never have to buy another one of these again.I like this spatula. It scrapes cleanly, resists high temperatures, and looks good enough to display on my counter (along with other utensils from the same "Twin Pure" line). The only downside (and this is true of most of the "Twin Pure" line): the handle is heavier than the actual spatula, so it is not possible to leave it in the mixing bowl (unless the sides of the bowl are fairly tall) without it flipping out of the bowl onto the counter. Still, the pros (function, look, and feel) of this product outweigh that one con.EZ-DUZ-IT Deluxe Can Opener with Black Grips
If you liked the old USA made Swing-Away can openers, this is the one you want! After buying junk chinese knock off can openers for the past few years that have to be replaced after using them a few times, I searched everywhere for an old Swing Away brand can opener like the ones that used to last a lifetime but they too are now made in China and after a few uses, will become worthless. After searching, I found the EZ-Duz-It brand can opener that is made right here in the USA using all quality components, right down to the tool hardened cutting wheel and gears. There have been no hick-ups on any can, large or small, that I have tried this on. It grips the can and smoothly cuts it perfectly all the way around without ever getting off track or chewing up the can edge. It's so good, that I ordered three just in case because finding quality like this is more of an exception rather than a rule now days. A word of caution, like any fine cutting tool, I would not recommend placing it in the dishwasher.I was looking for a replacement for my 30 year old Sw!ng@way handheld. It seems the old name has moved their manufacturing to another country and the quality suffered greatly. These are made in the same plant as the originals. These ARE the originals.

I have had many can openers in the last 10 years, due to the fact that they were all pieces of junk and they ALL were ready to go into the trash within a short period of time. Most needed to be trashed immediately. I could tell that this one was superior to the rest as soon as I took it out of the package. It feels solid and heavy, unlike all of the others that I wasted my money on. This one is well made. It actually goes around the entire top of the can with ease and without skipping! IT WORKS like a can opener should. Finally!!!This can opener actually does what it is suppose to do, and does it well, with little effort on my part. I have arthritis in my fingers, using this opener helps me, I can open a can without struggle and pain. I no longer have to call on my husband for assistance with opening cans!

Because the long popular Swing-Away brand is now made in China, I switched to the Ez-Duz-It brand made in the St. Louis, MO area. Beautiful product highly recommended.
Mundial Magnetic Bar
I am a chef living on a small island in a small house.Storage is always a challenge. Am so glad I got this bar for my knives.
It holds 3 cleavers, a 10" chef knife and a 12" serrated knife. Plus several other smaller knives. Had no problem putting it up and nothing has fallen off. It's perfect. Holds more then any block and frees up much valued counter space.
A great investment.I purchased the Mundial magnetic knife bar to hold my chef knives in my kitchen to stop from having to always get in our kitchen drawers. This thing is perfect for me, allowing me to have about 8 of my favorite knives right next to my stove and cutting board where I need them. I wanted black to go with our dark cherry wood kitchen so it would blend in and this is just the thing. Holds chef knives of 8 and 10 inch with no problems at all. Why spend $60 or $80 dollars when this is easy to mount, magnets are very strong, and looks great. And it comes in 12, 18 or 24 inch models too, so if you need a different size, you can get it.One of our sons requested this a few years ago as one of his Christmas presents so when another son and daughter-in-law bought us new restaurant quality steak knives (you know those really big ones when you get when you order a steak?) there was no more room in our silverware and utensil drawers so I immediately thought of this.
Our son loves it so it was a no-brainer. Hubby said it was easy to hang and our big steak knives hang on this strip with no problem! It holds 8 of them nicely.
Would definitely buy again and recommend this to anyone!I've installed two of these in my kitchen. They look good. I am a little concerned about the strength of the magnets and wish they were a little stronger. But they are holding a lot of knives and so far so good!Being I didn't want a butcher block on my counter taking up space ,and I didn't want to throw my 4 new Wusthof Ikon knives along with my 6 Wusthof Classic knives in a draw to get beat up I went for mag bar. It is holding all knives with no problem including a very heavy cleaver. I would recommend
